So Grier gave up a 3rd to let Thrun walk as a UFA? Sure that makes sense

If they’re smart, Bailey will finally be bought out or traded this offseason and Mayfield will become a free agent. That will give us about ~10 million in space, more than enough for Wahlstrom, a 3rd pair D and backup goalie. Not much space for actual upgrades, but it’s not like the Isles have ever been active in free agency under Lou anyways

Lol, a simple "you forgot to sign Thrun" would've sufficed.

You haven't signed him in any of your last 4 ACGMs I figure that is on purpose

Definitely not on purpose. Got him signed now and will make sure to do so for future ACGMs.

Long as we're talking Thrun, I don't think he cracks the top-9 unless SJ buys out Vlasic or trades Ferraro in the offseason. Even then, I think Okhotyuk and Mukhamadullin have a better chance to make the top-9. Thrun may make the 23-man roster though, but I'd much rather see him get a year in with the Cuda in the AHL.

In order to sign him, Grier might have to promise a chance. He's definitely better than Okhotiuk. He's not better then Mukhamadullin who I think makes the team for sure

Isles have some cap space. It’s not a ton but it’s enough. Also not letting wahlstrom go for a 2nd so a Bailey buyout or cap dump could be used if need be.
