Can't see the Jackets trading away Texier the minute he's back from the 18 months leave of absence that they granted him. He's also going to have 1 year left on his current contract since it went on hold as a result of entering the substance abuse and behavior health program.

I agree but the offer is fair and fills a need in Columbus. Ferraro is an exceptional leader and worker.

Why would San Jose trade Ferraro and a 2nd? They had offers for Ferraro at the deadline, that I’m sure didn’t have them moving picks too, and they declined. 32 thoughts said they have a high price on Ferraro, this sure as hell ain’t it

I realise Ferraro is adored by sharks fans but his numbers are not spectacular. Texier has real top six potential right away. Take off the teal glasses for a moment and realise it’s time to move on.

How have Zetterlund and Johnsson been so far?

With Mukhamadullin arriving this year, I am hoping he gets some NHL time. What’s the plan for him?

Can I get some teal glasses? Those sound cool! Jokes aside though: Ferraro is worth more to San Jose right now tha Texier. Who can fill in Ferraro's role long-term right now on the Sharks? Are Knyzhov and Thrun really that good? I haven't seen that many recent Sharks games, but I know Ferraro is a very good top-4 2-way D that can log minutes (from what I've seen). I love Tex, one of my favurite players and really miss him, but this only makes sense if SJS have another D that can step into his shoes or has surpassed him (like Bear being traded from Carolina, Gavrikov leaving LA, Schenn being traded from Vancouver...). Do they have that? I don't know. I'd like to know what you think as well as know what San Jose fans think.

No teal tinted glasses here, not a big fan of Ferraro’s the past couple years. He got paid for one good year and has been bad since that year, reminds me of labanc in that way. I’m going off what insiders say, that griers price for him was high, which isn’t shown as such in this trade.

Muk is supposed to come to California now since his year is done in the KHL, not sure how that looks yet. Johnsson has been serviceable thus far. Zetterlund shows some compete and of course expectations on San Jose should be lower in terms of production, but he’s been disappointing. Which is bad because expectations weren’t very high to start with.

Zetterlund had a couple of stretches with Nico where he really performed well as the 3rd guy on line / puck retriever. Then would have a few games in bottom-6 and we’d hardly hear from him. NJD doesn’t really have “lines”, just a interchangeable top-9 that shuffle around constantly based on performance…so he got bounced up and down frequently. He is a tank though.

Johnsson was better here than many think here. At the midway point last season, he was our 2nd leading scorer. His demotion this year was partly cap related, party poor start to season.

I am excited for Muk. Have read every story, watched every YouTube clip, read every scouting report out there on him over last couple of years. I am a believer.

Yeah Zetterlund is a thick boy, Grier likes em that way. I’m sure he gets resigned here and plays top 9 if not top 6 next year. Johnsson I’ve liked for sure, I could see them resigning him too if he’s interested. Muk seems to have people who love him or hate him, I’m optimistic he can turn into something nice

Sharks reporter gave his top 10 sharks prospects after the deadline and had Muk at 2 behind Eklund. Says he didn’t get pushback about it from scouts he asked to analyze his rankings.

Makes sense to me. Muk has super-high ceiling. He just has an unorthodox play style that some see as genius, other see as flawed and undisciplined.

EP Rinkside, Steve Kournianos, Corey Pronman like him. Others think he will never play an NHL game (and a few just don't want to bother learning how to spell his name).

Don’t think he’ll play an nhl game because of the KHL or because of his play? Seems like a 21 yo defenseman in the KHL with 25 points should be on the path to make the nhl

Dunno. I suspect a lot of "Russia" risk baked into that calculation.

But he has been signed, has already played in AHL...so shouldn't be much of concern.
