Switch Mailloux for Barron. I just don't think they want the hassle that is the Mailloux saga. Not sure if he will be allowed to play yet even though he's on the right track.

You dont wait until he's a pending UFA easy to move to do this. Beside Armia's buyout is way cheaper
Hoffman has been a top 3 guy since being here mostly due to injuries . Technically he's #4 but with Anderson out after just passing him says Hoffman will re-take it soon.
We bought him knowing he wasnt a leader he was a Phil Kessel type depth guy who works on special teams. No way should he be a top 3 Scorer on a team unless its via his PP Production(its not).
Hoffman wasnt as smart as Kessel as Hoffman inhereited a Coach he pissed off in OTT in Burrows who doesnt skate him on PP even during injuries until he's literally the last option .
Guys who've played 100's of games in the NHL with not PP points he still skates over Hoffman who when he signed with MTL got 50% of all his offense on special teams .

Alex Burrows is a Offensive Coach promoted into Muller's role by Ducharme who felt he could guide him there, well he didnt.
MSL is trying to do the same but he cant as our special teams suck and TBH at this point i'd rather just hire Byron to take his Job if we're just going to go through this long of a learning curve.
Byron has those players respect and has lead some of MTL's best Penalty Kills under multiple Coaches and maybe thats the foundation MTL builds on letting the Farrel's ,Caufields , Roy's and Suzuki's make a lot of the creative calls in the moment as only they can.

All i know is Hoffman did what i expected him to once factoring in the system he was dumb enough to sign on to .
We havent had a league leading Special Teams outside our PK in the SCF run going back as far as 2009 i believe it was just before Koivu, Souray and so many others left us.
Molson has been to Horrific in terms Special Teams Success since buying the team . We went from #1 in the NHL to never #1 or even top 10 since . ( i mean we get there for a month but come year end never)

Scouts at a game he was in
Coulda been there for a number of reasons given there's 7 NHL Prospects on London's team alone all from other teams.
Mailloux is just on fire lately and MTL fans cant stop with this PLD stuff like WPG didnt screw themselves into a corner .
No one's offering them top shelf to someone with no leverage when Offer Sheets are so much easier when they Players declared WPG isnt in his long term plans.

TBL put themselves in situations without Leverage and paid for it but their Development is so strong you wouldnt be able to tell they've given up every 1st rounder draft and pick but Vasilevsky and this past years selection Isaac Howard , but give them a year and Howard will be gone too. But they make SCF and Win Stanley Cup Championships because of these bold moves that look dumb in the moment but in hindsight seem utterly brilliant. They Sacrificed finding Value in conjunction with the trade but also the cap it creates regardless of the cost in which they add their finishing touches.

WPG has always been the type to spend forever developing players with no killer instinct to win a Title .
Its why their Relocation happened despite such a great young core of Talent the League couldnt trust them to make an impact in the league.
Ironically they moved it somewhere that's biggest upside is the Impact it had on the Auston Matthew's and Michael Buntings or Arizona to join Hockey , but I Digress.

My Point was WPG needs this , we dont
Chevy lets Dubois walk for nothing IMO he's toast and will be clearing out his office within 7 days of it happening .
We're under no such strain to make a deal

its 1 year and 2 years , this year has 11 games left why are you counting it ? ? ?

You're wrong about Hoffman its a Team Sport , you Cant ignore the Team Roles required to Win
Like him or not Hoffman is the 3rd line forward who can run your 2nd PP unit with a Decent Center , Which he's never gotten in MTL.
When he gets the odd chance to play with Suzuki when the teams half injured , He does well .

Hoffman at 2.25m cap after 50% retained salary this TDL, he'll get us a 2nd and a decent prospect for sure.
Playoff teams are often built solid and dont require a Role Player to be the top 3 guy on their team like MTL does and is doing with Hoffman.
Its not because others arent stepping up either there's a lot of players like RHP, Belzile , Ylonen,Richard, ext who've done well here helping .
But Hoffman each year during injuries steps up as much as he can doing more then most

Yes , thats what i said 2 years left and with a buyout that Doubles the term SMH
If you were right about "3 years" the term would be extend to 6 years . . .
Wow .

I gave you too much Credit
I figured cause we were on a site that explains how these tools work that you'd understand it. . .

your opinion, but managing a buy out of armia until 26-27 will be hurtful instead of 2 yrs of hoffman that will be gone by 24-25 ... so manage 3 years earlier.

Not Opinion, This response kinda validated my claim.

Armia Buyout
2023-24 = 33k
2024-25 = 1.03m
2025-26= 1.43m
2026-27 = 1.43m

Versus

Hoffman
2023-24 = 1.166m
2024-25= 1.66m

Its basically the difference of 1m x 1 year
His final year can be Buried for 2.25m
There's man options based on Business 101 logic ,
Buying him out literally only makes sense if he's f**king the coaches wife or something

My expectation is that he will become eligible to play in the 2023-24 or 2024-25 season. The reason behind this is that the NHL allowed the Canadiens to sign him to an ELC on October 5th 2022. Using the slide rule eligibility his contract is deferred until at least 2023-2024. If the NHL had no intentions of clearing Mailloux to play they would have just voided the contract altogether.

Cant , NHLPA wont allow it even in Justifiable case's like Miller in BOS.
Not saying your Answer is wrong just the way you chose to get there is .

He's there because his team did and internal investigation.
Lars Westermark was fired his 2nd year GM and unhired or spoken to since.
This was all over 2000$ bet the Veteran's on this 17 year old kids team had made.
Like his Agent said , look at what Swedens done to address this .
They punished Mailloux and the Adults who created the situation.

Its unlike the NHL will ignore such a thing.
Mailloux made a mistake but its not like he's some evil sex tape leaking POS like Brad Maddox or some dumb SOB like Tommy Lee.
He's just a dumb kid who had bad mentors and was failed by his adoptive Community when trusted oversea's.
In Canada we treat the Junior Players we get a lot better then this .

Possibly. But right now he has no value and definitely would not be considered by any team in a trade (barring a trade for a different, no value piece), especially for an extremely valuable piece. Until he's cleared he just isn't worth taking a chance on.

Plus with his character issues he's just not something Winnipeg's ownership will get mixed up with.

I was right there with you until you took the Moral high ground . . . Schiefele makes that impossible.
Character issues ? Your Captains a Sociopath. . . .
I agreed with 100% of everything you said , right up until that point .
Ehlers had to protect Evans from his own Teammate . . .
Its why when Ehlers scores in MTL they cheer , he's a class act and we dont forget that.

Nor do we forget Schiefele's reaction to Evans calling him a diving POS before realizing he was really hurt then screams its his fault . . .
His post game interviews were just as devoid of intelligence and humanity .

So until Schiefele is gone you have no position in which to look down on others Character issues.
Especially a 17 year old guest in a foreign nation bet 2000$ by his host teams Veterans to do what he's accused of.
Its wasnt something that came from within him Naturally like with Schiefele , Mailloux was put in that position and gave into not only Per Pressure but Pressure from his Elders/Leaders at the time.

Schiefele outside being raised poorly has no excuse for how he conducted himself at all.

Definitely not the same thing at all.the Jets don't have a captain, so I don't know who you mean. But there's a HUGE difference between a hockey issue and a real life issue. One's a game, one isn't.

Claude Lemieux and many others have done a lot of despicable things on the ice. It doesn't make them bad people in life.

I'm not taking the moral high ground, I'm just pointing out that True North has said personal character is extremely important to them, so they're not going to sell out players that have demonstrated they don't have that quality.

Ok what about the lawsuit against Scheifele for failure to pay his persoan chef in a timely manor and provide the health benefits promised him in his contract?! Breach of contract is a real life legal issue, can't say that is in line with "true north personal character". He is literally cheating a former employee out of pay and benefits, it's not as bad as sharing a private intimate picture but it still lacks character.

Lets just say Evander Kane and skip past this True North said stuff.
Bergavin said the same even moving Subban and Pacioretty over it , who'd he draft right after?
It either means they dont care or its a convenient term to use as it doesnt rise to the level of Slander which is against the law.
Anytime someones a Moron they just say "Character issues " and no issues of Liability .

Moral High Ground is Moral High Ground.
Trying to make it over levels of Justification is arguing Intent.
I'll Take Mailloux 'im a dumb kid trying to win a 2000$ bet vs my host teams leaders' over ' im a grown man and leader in the NHL who is unaccountable for my actions as i have weak character and like to blame the victim for my actions"

Only 1/2 stood up and owned what he did as a mistake
Only 1/2 stood up saying he's make changed then followed through .

Schiefele was like this decades Iginla for me as a fan from the East Coast . Team Canada at all levels i figured like Iginla would invite Schiefele to events. . . .I was Wrong.
I never got why really until this minute. It was never about his lack of skill as he was one of the best during many selection periods ,it was about lack of Character

Im not saying he's evil or anything , just a grown man who made a bad choice then doubled down on it
Mailloux isnt evil either just a dumb kid who listened to the wrong people whom he relied upon in a foreign nation while playing hockey.
Only 1/2 is likely to re-offend in my books

Ok what about the lawsuit against Scheifele for failure to pay his persoan chef in a timely manor and provide the health benefits promised him in his contract?! Breach of contract is a real life legal issue, can't say that is in line with "true north personal character". He is literally cheating a former employee out of pay and benefits, it's not as bad as sharing a private intimate picture but it still lacks character.

Hahahaha wow , i didnt know that .
I mean its not quite what i meant but if they can get Capone on Tax Evasion , why not get Schiefele for screwing over a Canadian Business owner .

I doubt Schiefele would think twice if the tables were turned .

And they dumped Evander Kane as soon as they could.

Scheifele hitting Evans isn't related to Mailloux at all. You're just upset and reacting emotionally because it happened to your player. But like it or not, one happened in a game and one happened in real life and the one that happened in real life has real life consequences.

We're getting really off topic here, so we should probably move on.

You don't have to like it, or agree with it, but playing in the NHL is a privilege and Jets ownership can choose to employ whoever they want for whatever reasons they want. They don't have to employ a player just because you think what he did isn't that bad.

Did they? Did they Really?

I mean we dumped Subban ASAP
We took our sweet time with Pacioretty
By comparison it took WPG an enternity to do something about Kane .
Kane they knew what they were getting into after 6 years and a relocation with him , Cant say otherwise.

I never said the two were related
You brought up Character and i toasted you because of it on every level.
Until then i 100% agreed with you so stop making excuses and own it
You're just trying to say Schiefele can be as horrible to players and Chefs on and off ice with no responsibility ever being taken .

But a 17 year old who owned his actions , paid for his crimes and has done a lot to raised awareness on the subject is a lesser person . . . .
Had you just not brought up the "character " non sense we'd be sitting here agreeing still

Its like when you got on Anderson because Habs fans posted admittably Horrible low ball trades for weeks so you began spamming posts with this "Cap dump " non sense.
We had a debate and in the end we agreed on about 90% of everything once i realized what was triggering your bias.

Im not saying Schiefele is Evil im asking you to have some consistency .
If Mailloux in his situation can be so wrecklessly labeled like you did to him earlier .
Its 100% justifiable to hold someone who's shown no remoarse accountable as we have Schiefele .

You dont have to like it but Double Standards get called out and Intent always matters as much as Actions.
Mailloux's shown he's evolved and has went above whats asked and beyond .
Has Schiefele ? No
