That deal for Tampa is horrible. If they do that, why give up another 1st rounder when this draft year is much better than last year.

I still hate the OEL trade where they gave up their 1st for a albatross contract.

The Captain said "We don't care about picks" ,then the GM went out and proved his Captain accurate. So, why the F*** would they do this?

As much as it pains me to say (because I have been saying for years the Canucks should rebuild) I do think the Canucks should consider trading their 1st for another legit top 4 with some cap certainty.
I personally don't think management will be able to construct a roster that will be able to compete while QH and EP are in their primes with their current cap situation and depleted prospect pool, but they are in too deep now to not push all their pieces in.
As for Cernak, he would be a great fit but TB is also trying to win now so I highly doubt he would be available.

I guess my thoughts here for Tampa are they could recoup a valuable asset in a high first round pick. Cernak averages about 19mins ATOI. So I know they like him but he's probably not untouchable. Bear could come in and fill those minutes at half the price (I recognize he's a different player and not as good defensively). I agree it's unlikely they move cernak but the 9th overall and Bear is a pretty difficult package to pass if you think you can replace cernak in the aggregate with Bear Perbix Raddysh etc.

For the Canucks I'd hate to see them move their 1st again but damn I really like the looks of that back end with this move. I think this roster would not only make playoffs but also make some noise in the playoffs.

TB signed him 8 years to build their future blueline around he and Sergachev. Cap will go up substantially in 2 years.Cernaks hit will look like a bargain. Even 9 OA isn't helping for 2-3 years tops. To quote the Captain "We don't care about picks." This statement was emphatically backed up by the GM when TB acquired Jeannot.

I know I think it's unlikely they trade him but sometimes teams change course on their plans. With this draft class that player might be able to make an impact in 1-2yrs time.

I get it's an unlikely trade though. Just trying to have some fun here and I think the value is there.

Is trading Cernak to TB worth Bear and the potential of getting a Brett Connolly 6OA Slater Koekkoek 10OA Luke Schenn 5OA Zach Bogosian 3OA Nail Yakapov 1OA ETC ETC

People like you are the worst lol. Can't even have a conversation.

If you're going to cherry pick those guys then go ahead and add Mikko Rantanen, William Nylander, Moritz Seider, Trevor Zegras, Matthew Boldy, Quinn Hughes, Dylan Guenther, Mikhail Sergachev.

It's a crap shoot is my point can you get a really good guy yes, but there as many or more 7- 12 picks that are meh or worse as there are that are good players. Those are supposed to be "the best" sorry if the facts don't align with your narrative.

Lmao I never put out a narrative. Top 10 picks are valuable assets. That's a fact not a narrative. Just like anything they don't always pan out but if you can't acknowledge that they're valuable then you simply have a narrow minded agenda and clearly can't have a productive discussion. Cheers mate.

They have value but not that much and not to TB right now. May you be blessed with nothing but joy and prosperity.

He was good to start the season and has been good lately. Think the injuries piled up and he finally got healthy. Could they do better? Sure, but I wouldn't put him in the Bryson "ship him to the moon" bracket

Certainly not that category I agree but like I said, just prefer to make that improvement. We can also afford to pay him as the 7th D.
