You can't trade that first until the end of 2024. It's conditional with SJS- if they reach the ECF in either '23 or '24, the '24 2nd rounder they gave SJS becomes a '24 1st

This is the point with every ACGM that tries to trade Jenner. He's a fine 2C better suited as a 3LW, we know this. But he's on a cheap long-term deal well-below market value, the captain, and is absolutely beloved by everyone in the organization. It would take a ridiculous offer to pry him from Columbus (honestly, more than this...), and no team would sensibly match Columbus' price. So...he's just not available.

1. Jenner, Boone

To Columbus
1. A literal child
2. Mystery Box NHLer
3. Bad contract

Competing Team Fan 1: That's so much, pass

Columbus Fan 1: Jenner is (captain/cheap/team-friendly deal/below market rate/signed long term/loved by organization/a rare player type not many teams have), it's not enough, and teams wouldn't be willing to pay Columbus' price.

Competing Team Fan 2: Boone is trash

Columbus Fan 1: *sigh* Why does everyone try to trade for him then?

Columbus Fan 2: Boone isn't available.

Rinse and repeat.

I get all that, it's just not what the Devils should be spending to get a 3C. Jenner isn't even bad, just not what the Devils should look to spend for a less than premium spot.
