I don’t c Carolina trading Nishikin for Konecky if they wouldn’t trade him for Meier. I don’t think Provorov would move the needle that much in this scenario either.

Depending on how the playoffs go, maybe CAR decides they need to bolster their lineup now instead of waiting a couple more years for Nikishin to come over. Provorov can do that especially if he has Pesce on his pair. Provorov absolutely dominated with Niskanen, imagine what he could be with an even better defensive D man.

Skjei >>>>> Provorov, Provorov is closer to having negative value. This is WAY WAY too much. Drop Provorov, Nikishin and both 2nds and maybe look at Suzuki. This is WAY off.

I disagree, I think if Provorov has an actual defensive D man with him, he is better than Skjei. Provy hasn't had a decent D man play with him since Niskanen

Okay? Skjei doesn't need that and is straight up better anyway... Skjei has arguably been the Canes best defenseman this season. There is a world where Skjei gets Norris votes at the end of this year (not a ton, but you know the random guys that end up with 1 or 2 at the bottom of the ballot after having a really strong year, that kind of votes) because he's been so good. The most notable thing Provorov did this year was not wear a pride jersey...

This is a 3 year sample size, just to prove that your incoming "one year isn't a valid sample size" argument is beaten at the break

Again...Provorov hasn't had a decent D partner since Niskanen. That was 2019/2020

If he needs a good D partner to be good, he isn't worth this kind of package

You don't get a Norris if you aren't a top pairing D man. And it's not possible that one of the better defensive D in the league in Pesce inflates his stats is it...

Personally would rather keep Ghost than make the acquisition of Provy. Rod won’t break up the Skjei-Pesce pairing, and they don’t need to put over 6mil at 3LD. Ghost is cheaper, and is a better fit since his 2-way game has really improved the last couple of years. Could see a Konecny acquisition, but Provorov doesn’t make sense. Especially when Nikishin has the potential to be so much better.

Might want to look at which of Carolina's pairings has the most time on ice at even strength... I'll give you a hint, it's not Slavin - Burns.

Also, you are trying to argue Pesce inflates his stats? Pesce has been a negative asset defensively... but keep going

I’m going to disagree with that. While Pesce does help Skjei’s stats, their relationship is mutual. Their chemistry is exceptional, and when you look at their deployment, they are a top pair, that is tasked with shutting down the top guys on the opposing team more often than not, and are excellent everywhere on the ice. The Skjei-Pesce pairing is basically what the Pelech-Pulock pairing would be if they were deployed on a 2nd pairing. Skjei doesn’t need Pesce to succeed, and vice versa, but they have a lot high success when they play together.

"Pesce is negative value defensively"
Man you people that rely solely on analytics charts are the worst!

If you want, you can look at Skjei's stats before he he came to CAR and was paired with Pesce...maybe just maybe, Pesce is the reason for his "Norris caliber year" tears of joy

I disagree...Skjei 100% needs Pesce to succeed and you can see it in his stat differences between NYR and when he was paired with Pesce.
