Zadorov for a first seems blasphemous, has he been great this year?

No. A second round pick would be a good return for him if they got a replacement level player and a pick it's a good return. There is a fraction of Flames fans who think he's worth a 1st which is outrageous, someone the other day "recommended" Olen Zelwegger PLUS!!!! a prospect for Zadorov, he's gained a bit of a cult following because of the huge open ice hits. He's been good this year but 20 points, no powerplay production, slightly above average possession numbers and 52% Ozone starts is far from a 1st round D man. If a team really wanted him I could see them overpaying with a 1st that would fall in the 28-32 range but again that's outrageous and the Flames would sprint away from the negotiating table.

The value in Zadorov is obviously his Size, but also his Future Ceiling & Potential yet. He's just entering his Prime years and could be signed long-term for $3.75-4.75mil/yr, which isn't a ton and he could become much better still and put up more Scoring if playing in one of the Top 2 Pairings and/or getting some Power Play time. Although a 2nd Round Pick is probably more likely, a late 1st could definitely happen as well. Keep in mind, you'd be getting a bona fide 6'6 250lb NHL Defensemen vs. a 1st or 2nd Round Pick that may never play 100+ NHL Games, so that's a consideration here

Olen Zelleweger (who is a bit under-sized and hasn't played any Professional Hockey) + a replacement player in Simon Benoit for Zadorov would be a fair trade imo

Hanifin is worth far more than just a 1st Round Pick, especially if he comes with an extension, so unless it's a Top-5 Pick here in 2023 (which ANA's might be), I'd still want more

Ehlers would be nice addition, but I think Mang would have to go the other way for it to make sense

I’d give up Anaheims 23 3rd and nothing more for Zadorov

I would also be happy giving that up for a partner for Jamie Drysdale

Olen Zellweger +, you're having a laugh mate.

Well give you Anaheims 2023 3rd, better than the pick you paid to acquire him.

You’re right, on 2nd look I realized Zellweger is a Higher Top Prospect than I thought

Maybe Benoit + The Rights to either RD Prospect Luneau or Warren instead!?

Not to be miserly with would be could be prospects, but we are way too light on RHD prospects of note to loose either of them yet. We've got helleson who should be ready soon, but his ceiling is 2nd pairing, most likely a 3RD bruiser. Warren and Luneau are a few years out still, but they're next in the pipeline, we're just not deep enough to be moving them.

I'd add Benoit to the ANA 23 3rd from earlier, or I might do LaCombe.

LaCombe + Benoit might work, but CGY needs RD Depth too and ANA has Drysdale, Helleson + 4 Reserve Prospects, so offering one up shouldn’t be a deal breaker and they could always Draft another at the next Draft to spread them out in age a bit more.

Adding Benoit isn’t a deal breaker, but it would be nice to get a low-cost NHL Ready replacement/depth player back
