Pettersson is worth a lot more than a 4th.

Smith isn’t an NHL player anymore. Was one of the worst d-man in 2021-22. This is why he has barley played in PIT.

That Pettersson trade makes Hextall look like Yzerman. MP is the Pen's best defensive defenseman and was our most consistent D in general this year. Replacing him with a worse D who's over 30 is galactically stupid.

What, a sophmore in the NHL struggled? Who could have seen that coming? He barely played in PIT because he is the only NHL caliber defenseman that is waivers exempt. He was better than POJ in the preseason and was solid in his short stint with the Pens in January. And he's still 23. He was given the opporunity to improve, and he still has room to grow further.

Can't see the Hawks trading a pick for a player at this point, but a 4th for Pettersson is pretty great value. I can think of worse scenarios than Pettersson on the top pair w/ Jones for the next 2 seasons. I'd do it - not sure Hawks would

Incorrect. The only reason Smith isn't playing for the Pens is because they scuffed the cap situation so bad

if the wild do this trade and i have no idea why they would want to trade MAF for next year. there is nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo way they retain on the deal. we gave up a conditional first to get him (ended up being a 2nd) but wild's cap hell says no retaining for 2 years.
