How is this a "blow up"? You still have most of your team and signed two former Capitals. This would barely be considered a "retool".

His skating fell off after his ACL tear, its a risk to assume his knee will ever get back to pre tear.

First two trades are awful for the caps. Seattle probably declines and Ottawa easily declines.

His skating is still superb. Rewatch the game from last night. And even if it wasn't teams would still line up for him.
