Does the selling of a team affect the cap? If so, I wouldn't be as worried about the 2M buyout cap for Murray in 2024-2025. With the recent sale of the Preds and with the Sens being sold soon, the cap should go up considerably (if they are linked to the cap in any way).

Trade. The buyout results in 2 Mil of deadcap in the Matthews and Nylander extension year, which is less than ideal

Buying him out is a non-starter because of what you've already said, so it'd be better to wait and see how the summer plays out. See how Samsonov's contract works out first then decide about Murray.

Also I believe next season Woll is not Waivers Exempt anymore so that is another point to trade him

I believe so. Now that the NHL is getting more recognition then ever from all over the world which leads to more Jersey Sales etc the cap is looking to increase by 2-5 million over the next few years

The NHL makes about $5 billion USD in revenue each year. So cap is bound to go up over the next few years

Woll looks like a real good future goalie, no way can they lose him.

I would suck to lose Woll. I have been hyped about him ever since he signed his ELC. That is why I would rather trade Murray

Ehhh, I think it could be the same situation as he will spend half the season on LTIR if we do keep him and half the season as the backup

I'd say trade, buyout for a team like Toronto that is bound to be pressed to the cap wall is not ideal. I like San Jose or Chicago as options as they will both have lots of room and no clear #1 goalie. I also don't think it'll take a crazy high pick to dump him. A comparable is Mrazek, who is definitely worse than Murray, and it only took a shuffling down of about 10 draft spots to get rid of him. Considering that Murray is filling a team need on SJS or CHI, and that he is actually playable, unlike Mrazek, I think they could probably move with like a 3rd or lower attached.

So actually, what you did with getting the 2nd back could work fairly well, as it would only be a move down of 5-7 spots.

Revenue 5b, players get 50%. or 2,500,000,000 divided by 32 teams....that the cap 80m or so.

Murray..I have to think it's a buyout. He really isn't tradable.....unless half retained., and even at that he has M NTC. The other option is demoted to the Marlies which saves 1.1m in cap, and Woll takes 800,000 of that so it's just a 400,000 saving.

It is? Viewship on US Network TV was down 23%. If we do enter a recession, luxuries like expensive tickets or NHL jerseys or whatever aren't in such demand.
Bettman has been continually been wrong (lying) about the revenues. They are never as good as what he wants. Hey I hope you're right, but no logical to think the revenues are going up much.

I just believe what the commissioner says because why would he lie right... it is not like he is lying when he says I treat all teams equally

Check out what Bettman has said for over 25 years now. He's always optimistic till the numbers come out. One reason Bettman was hired was so he could unlock revenues in the US. He has failed miserably. His record of team owners...going broke under his watch has cost many owners lots of $$$$. The rich teams support the poor teams in the socialistic NHL.

They are not, the cap is linked to revenue and selling a team from one Billionaire to another makes billionaire money but not the league. TV deals, and ticket sales and merchandise sales would make the impact.

This but also I dont think this is a good fit. Mike Grier has basically said his main priority is to fix the goal tending this year. If we had bang average goal tending this year we prolly are a play off challenger like Nashville
