You’ve got about $8 million sitting on the LTIR. What was your plan for those players?

My brother in (whatever your beliefs are), Patrick Kane, despite being from Buffalo, is not the answer. I could tell you its because he's a scumbag by citing issues during the blackhawks fiasco or the fact that every midwest college campus now locks up on cinco de mayo. But supposing thats not enough, he's not the answer because he is a shell of his former self. This is the trap a lot of big markets wind up falling for. They get so close and then, right at the finish line, they make one of these moves.

The Rangers could have been a legit contender. Their offense was already very good, but their third pair was AHL caliber. All Drury had to do was address that with modest upgrades and ride Shesterkin to the promise land. Instead, he blew it on the ghost of Tarasenko and Kane. He couldn't resist. We must.

Trades/waive not sure where any or all could be traded so instead of enduring the slings and arrows of angry CF posters, I did it this way.

Fair points. But it's only a one year deal. I like the idea of a vet goal-scorer in the top nine and since Kane is always being talked about, I figured I'd start with him. I actually like that line of Savoie centering Mitts and Kane and I feel it would give Buffalo a potent top nine.

I am not fan of Kane going to Sabres, but if that's the deal he is willing to do - let's do it.

If he wanted to come to Buffalo, he would have asked to be traded here at the deadline. He didn’t because he doesn’t, and Buffalo doesn’t need him anyway. He will either resign with the Rangers or go back to Chicago if they win the Bedard lottery. But the only way he comes to Buffalo is if he calls Adams and asks to be brought in on a team friendly deal to end his career at home. Which has a one in about 1 million chance of happening.

He wouldn't. What's the point changing tanking Hawks to also not playoff team - Sabres, when he can go to cap contender.

Next season, Sabres have cap space, if he is willing to do 1yr "i am here to help" deal - do it. If it does not pan out, there is always trade deadline - just like Taylor Hall. But Kane have call Adams first.
