The idea that Steve Yzerman would lose his patience and give up two projected-to-be-key pieces of his team's future for one season of Elias Lindholm is just absurd. For what? To be a cusp playoff team and at best, go out after the first round, and then be left with nothing in 2024?

Intergalactically bad asset management. Like Pittsburgh trading for Mikael Granlund, only worse.

Thing is, if you watched Kasper in the SHL, you know exactly what you are getting. You knew last year too. You know after seeing him in his debut at the NHL. 2C is his floor. 1B is his ceiling. He simply doesn't make mistakes, but he doesn't take risks either. He is a feistier but less defensive version of Zetterberg in some ways. Just solid across the board.

Lindholm, with 1 year left, is old for the 1c or 2c spot with Larkin. The next deal won't be cheap. It makes zero sense to trade a guy who will be Zetterberg good in 3 years for a guy who (if resigned) will be declining as the team is ascending. Makes no sense.

I didn't mention Raymond. That is an overpay to get Vladar. Raymond is at his lowest trade value right now. He slumped a bit. He is still playing pretty good hockey. He might be a 50-60 point winger for his career, but he is still very good. I'd be shocked if Raymond didn't break out though, and put up 50 assists with 20 to 30 goals. He was a playmaker when drafted; tough to do what you are best at when you have few who can score playing with you.

Lindholm to Detroit makes sense to me.

…not in a trade like this though. Detroit won’t and shouldn’t give up those pieces.

Could I see DET’s 2023 1st? Maaaaaybe, but not for the package proposed here.

Actually he would sign an extension, it would be a sign and trade. They would sign him long term. It would be like an 8-year contract or something. This is just from the Detroit side. I posted the original one before from the Calgary side and I mentioned that.

Detroit not trading 2 of their future building blocks for 1 pending UFA that they have to pay a ton of money to through his 30s.
