With Bedard or Fantili

Description
This is a plan in the summer only if we get one of the two top picks in the draft. If we get Bedard or Fantilli we need to surround them with competent players instead of another year of AHL players on our NHL roster

Goalies: Raanta gets a one year deal but is paid well. Our three young goalies get more experience at Rockford. Mrazek like Raanta will be a FA end of season.

LD: We need to play Vlasic and Phillios and see what we have in them. They had a full season in Rockford. Tinordi is a depth piece only. KK is the wild card. Not ready for the NHL consistently but to good for Juniors. He will play with Chicago and than lent to Canada U20 WJC

RD: Jones and Murphy are locks and Murphy might get McCabe like attraction at TDL. Schenn is an overpay but can get us another pick at TDL. Zaitzev is terrible and buried if not in the press box every night

TOP 6 Players
Fantilli-Riechel-Domi-Compher are easy choices. Domi and Compher are young enough to be here on the other side of the rebuild

Boqvist needs more playing time. NJ is too stacked to afford our offer sheet. We find out finally if Kurashev can play a top 6 role

3rd Line: This line can compete against most teams. Raddysh might get bumped a line because he can score if nothing else. Tj and JD are solid and might brink back TDL draft picks

4th Line: Turcotte gets a chance. Boris needs to play like he did end of year

Still have around 13M under cap and have another 23M in expiring contracts so we can entertain big UFA's in summer 2024

I think we take a similar aproach with KK as the LA Kings did with Brandt Clarke this year. 9 game tryout and then to Juniors as to not burn a year of his ELC

I think that that's a tempting offer for Turcotte, but we'd have to see where the Tampa pick ends up -- there's a good chance they could be selecting in the 30's. I'd prefer the Ottawa second and Dallas third.

What has Boqvist done to deserve $3.8m per year? I'd argue TRad or Tyler Johnson are better options on Fantilli's wing than Boqvist. Alex Turcotte is not a 4th liner. He needs to be the 3C at least if he's in the NHL. Playing a 4th line role does nothing for his development. Korchinski goes back to the WHL for another season. His offensive game might be NHL ready, but he needs to improve his game in his own end. Why rush him? And a 3 man G rotation in Rockford makes no sense. That's 24 games per guy over a full season. They all need more work than that. Especially Commesso. If Hawks being in another veteran goalie, Mrazek gets bought out. Soderblom will be in the NHL next season.

The only part i disagree with is what you said about goalies. It is pretty standard for AHL teams to carry 3 goalies. Commesso isn't likely to get an even split in his first pro year either. Bringing in another goalie is necessary and will happen. Commesso and Stauber will get plenty of ice time. Games aren't the only thing that adds to development. Even if it is someone lower on the totem pole than Commesso that can bounce between the ECHL and AHL, they will bring in someone else. Mrazek is hurt to often to be the only veteren presence in CHI's goalie depth chart, though.

If CHI is going to burn a 2nd round pick offer sheeting an RFA, they could do MUCH better than Boqvist. I wouldn't mind acquiring him, but it shouldn't take anything close to a 2nd to get it done, and if it does, we should stay away.

I'm sure Hawks add a G on an AHL deal to play in Indy. They do that almost every year. Maybe keep Weekes for another season or being Wells back. Plenty of options. Still feel strongly they won't roll w/ 2 veteran G's in 23/24. Soderblom is ready for his shot.

I like Newhook from Colorado as well as younger player with potential that we can pay on potential more so than cap crunched team like Colorado who has to pay on performance

Wouldn't be a bad option. I still doubt CHI does anything like that at this juncture, though.

Yeah. Soderblom is ready. And Stauber is also ready to steal that opportunity if Soderblom messes it up. But guys like Petersen/Campbell/Murray/etc. that, both, could easily pass through waivers AND eat up some cap space, with the added bonus of bringing in some assets as a cap dump, could all be smart moves.

CHI would really need to like Turcotte. I like him but without having seen a lot in the last couple of seasons to suggest otherwise this is a steep price for CHI to pay.
