Probably can get kidney or mesar instead of the 2nd. Kidney/mesar and the 1st is a good base. Might need to take back Dvorak/Hoffman for cap and maybe get a 4th or some lower tier prospect like mysak.

wouldnt hurt to take a bad contract for an extra pick/prospect

Canucks decline. Garland and Niederreiter are very similar value. However, moving back from the 11th pick to the 17-19th pick is way too much to pay to dump Myers. Vancouver can pay Myers bonus and then send him to a team looking to hit the cap floor for cheap. Anaheim seems to make a good partner, and fans from both sides seem to agree on a deal of Myers plus a 4th for FC's.

Big question is what is the scheifele extension, or trade? And also when is peak return for ehlers and or Connor? Extending scheifele is rather questionable at this point, with the possibility of having to move him to wing and also getting younger at the same time. Also probably have to have a tough conversation with morrissey and possibly hand him the c through the tough times ahead. Lots of different scenarios, but moving out top 2 cs and expect a quick or easy retool is not in the cards in my opinion.

So basically the Canucks trade down around 8 spots to dump Myers? Absolutely not.

The Habs don't really need it though. They could just buy Hoffman out (for a $1.1m caphit per, over two years) and they would have enough money to give both Caufield and Dubois a new long term deal.

tbh i thought vancouver was 14 or 15th so i thought it was only 2 picks back

That would be closer on value. I still think the Canucks would rather keep the pick, unless they really like Niederreiter more than Garland and are certain that their guy they had a 15 would still be available at 17.

I could see VAN considering something like this even though it would piss off the fans. That never stops them.

Soft rebuild, I can guarantee you 100% that Pierre-Luc Dubois, Mark Scheifele, Blake Wheeler and Connor Hellebuyck are all gone within 1-2 years. That's not a soft rebuild but a crash landing. In fact for the right price. Kyle Connor will be gone as well.
