If it’s based on how good they were as prospects then Lafreniere and Dahlin should be higher. Dahlin should be higher no matter what it’s based on

Taking dahlin over everyone below Matthews for sure. Yes, even power.

We don't know enough about Bedard to put him that high, IMO.

2017 is a tough one. Was supposed to be a dud. But Makar, Pettersson, Nico, the 3 DAL picks, Thomas, Suzuki, Batherson, etc…now with Vilardi, Tippett, Glass, Necas, Chytil, Skinner, Liljegren, Luostarinen all showing another level…and signs of life from Frost, Cates, Tolvanen, Samberg, Aho, Kostin, Zetterlund… I think it may pass 2018 and 2014.

If it’s measuring which #1 overalls had the greatest hype at this point pre-draft…and including presumed #1s

McDavid
Bedard
Dahlin
Lafreniere
Wright*
Matthews
Power
Hughes
Ekblad
Patrick*

Matthews was a near consensus pick for his year, but people were still saying he was behind Eichel if he had gone in 2015. And some had him behind Laine.

Wright’s star had probably faded a bit by April…so his position above probably reflects his standing for early or mid-season.

I remember Hughes having more hype than Power, but otherwise this is pretty spot on
