I’ve got a tough time seeing Drury letting it even get to that point. Could potentially see a move at the draft in my opinion.

NY definitely matches that. They're not letting go of a 1st overall pick with good underlying stats. If you want Lafreniere I think you could go up to the next level of offer sheet compensation and sign him for 6 million. I believe the Rangers wouldn't match at that price, and would take the 1st and the 3rd rounder

You don't know a player is going to get offer sheeted it's pretty rare.
I would imagine dury would let teams know he would prefer a trade for a 2nd round pick so it doesn't look as bad. Maybe a couple random prospects swap as well.

I personally see a move happening regardless of the potential for an offersheet. I’m convinced a couple of awful moves will be made this summer by Drury in response to what happened.

Yes, the New York Rangers are going to move on from a former 1st overall pick who has flashed his absolute brilliance more than once for a 2nd and some random prospects... get real, no. He'll buyout Goodrow before it gets to that point. You have a better chance of offer-sheeting K'Andre Miller. 3 years 4 mil for Lafreniere gets matched anyway. You're looking north of 6 on a 1 year deal. That's a 1st and 3rd. Maybe even then the Rangers match, hard to say

How about the obvious stats and his Houdini-like brilliance as a third-liner averaging 1:04 of PP time/game: 0 goals, 0 assists = 0 points in 7 playoff games

He's shown year-over-year progress points-wise in his three NHL seasons but a career-high 39 points (16+23) for a 1st-overall pick is nothing to write home about. Much too early to call him a bust but I'm really not sure why Buffalo would want him. Jeff Skinner popped in 35 goals as the Sabres' top LW and rookie JJ Peterka hit the scoresheet for 32 points (12+20) as their No. 2 LW. The third-line LW was held down mostly by Mittelstadt and a slew of forwards from Olofsson (good until crunch-time, like Laffy) to Asplund (not so good)

Chris Drury would easily match that offer sheet on Alexis Lafreniere, He'd move Barclay Goodrow if need be. Even if he has to pay a little to cut him loose.

True but he would definitely be an asset worth more the the 2nd rounder given up.

Goodrow has 4 years left of contract would be terrible buy out. Paying for the guy for 8 more years lol.
Trade him would cost more then a 2nd. possible a first+ because of that length of contract and lack of production.

I never said buy him out, What i meant is he might have to attach a pick/prospect to move him to another team.

Dumping Goodrow would not take a 1st, he's not that badly overpaid. It may only be a 2nd because of the term, if he expired next summer, I'd make the argument he has a positive value.

i would say he currently has some value in bottom 6. but guys that play hard nose bottom 6 min wear down faster. its just hard to justify the length of contract at that cost.
Toronto gave Canes a 1st for 1 year at 6m$ to marleau not to long ago. Goodrow has 14.5m$ish left on his contract.

side note no team wants to help out rangers and give fair deal if they are struggling to get under cap. vultures

Marleau also wanted to leave, he was trying to force his way out, so Carolina bought the contract out because Toronto couldn't afford it. If the player was actually going to play for the team, it would not have cost anywhere near as much
