Habs accept...then flip Hertl and Simek for Dubois and 1st.
Final trade, from Habs perspective: Dubois and 18th for Gallagher, Hoffman, Kidney, 29th and 2024 COL 2nd.

Canucks laugh at that trade.. Myers is on his last year of contract no real need to push him out especially for that cost. also not easy to move any of those big name guys for such a heavy pick/prospect return

If Hertl is worth PLD and a 1st why wouldn’t San Jose just do that trade themselves…

Because...this ACGM didn't think about it.

On a more serious note, PLD's value might be different for SJS than it is for MTL. Chances are Dubois would be open to sign an extension in Montreal. Not sure it would be the case in San Jose, espcially if they start to sell Hertl and Karlsson + acquire bad contract for picks, like in this scenario. Would you be open to trade 7 years of Hertl for 1 year of Dubois ?

I’m a sharks fan and love Hertl but I was on the train to trade him last year. I do t think his value is PLD plus a 1st but if it was I would do it and then sell PLDs rights to another team.
