Fire keefe keep Dubas shake the core

Created by: Zainery
Team: 2023-24 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: May 7, 2023
Published: May 7, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Flames got a goalie prospect coming up. They may be willing to take on a cheaper goalie with starting potential in Sammy. Mangiapane imo is way better than he was this year. Brings simething different than Willy. This one could really bite us if Willy snaps but how many chances is he supposed to get?

Marner for Connor could be something both teams say “no” to. But it depends on each team realizing they are far from a cup and needing a drastic change.

Marner blocks the trade and the Jets wouldn't do it anyway.

Do you have faith in Dubas finding the right coach considering Sheldon was his guy who he fired Babcock for and ran it back over and over with. If the coach is the mistake, it’s Dubas’ mistake. If 1 goes I think both do

As the owner of your 2025 top ten protected first round pick I recommend that you make sweeping changes purely for the sake of doing something…anything at all. I’m sure that couldn’t possibly backfire and increase the value of said draft picks once irreversible damage is done to the team that takes years to fix. smile

Canucks could be interested, although personally I’d rather keep Garland or get a pick if we trade him

Actually it was Shanahan that fired Babcock. In an unusual circumstances Babcock's boss was club President Shanahan not GM Dubas. Though Babcock should have been fired much earlier or not even hired. A terrible head coach (game manager) and as we have found out a terrible person.

I really don't know what Shanahan does a President. The Leafs have so many executive but to me they don't do much or what they do, they don't do well..
Dubas IMO has created more problems than he solved. He should go.

Well it might be good pick indeed. I don't see Matthews or Nylander or Brodie being Leafs in 24/25. It is time to retool, which takes more than a year.
Plus the Sabres, Wings and even the Sens and Habs should be better. Going to be some teams in the Atlantic that made playoffs this year, that won't make the playoff in spring of 2025 (maybe even 2024). Leafs could well be on the outside of the playoffs in spring of 2025.

Are you out of your mind? Marner puts up more points and is Selke calibre. Connor scores goals but is one of the worst defensive players in the league. Jets take this and sprint.

Connor makes $3M less and is signed a year longer, why would the Jets lose cap space and term, so they can trade Marner in a couple years to recoup something before he walks?

Because Marner is absolutely worth the more cap. He's a top 10 player in the league. They'd always get a haul for him.

Makes no sense for the Jets, too much risk involved.
