The mistake is in thinking Matthews takes anything less than $14M - with the cap going up soon, the players are going to get theirs while they can

Both trades are overpay.

Less attractive markets should build through draft, not UFAs. See Buffalo.

Well yeah but this is the first time in a decade Buffalo hasn't had a top 10 pick and they had 2 #1 overalls and 2 #2 overalls. I get what you're saying though just keep building through the drafts.

Yeah, sorry for my bad english, it's late.

CLB have been suffering for a long time. Better to keep Sillinger, Foudy and the 2023 3 OA and build something long term than to take UFA short cuts.
