Even if he is the better player, the difference isn't Hellebuyck. Vanecek in this trade is a cap/roster move, not a trade chip. Consider the trade from their POV too, what would Winnipeg actually gain from this? If they're trading Hellebuyck it's because they're selling, so Bratt wouldn't be of interest.

Probably need to add Holtz too. Or Mercer since you have him on the 3rd line and Holtz on the 2nd.

The thing is Bratt has 1 year of team control but Ehlers has two. Given how things are playing out with pld there is no guarantee he extends beyond 1 year and goes to UFA at the earliest opportunity.

If Winnipeg is moving Hellebuyck and Ehlers…it probably means they are rebuilding (or re-something-ing) that would require more of futures return.

Jets would be asking for names like Nemec or Mercer.

Ehlers likely is not on the block anyway. Jets have enough pieces to deal with this summer.
