I would accept that offer as the Los Angeles GM, despite my brethren who will all tell you that Iafallo isn't being traded. I would even accept the "Arvidsson return" -- the Philly second and your 2024 third.

Nice ACGM here.

Because we almost have to. It will greatly facilitate continuing our progress if we get rid of one of Cal Petersen (untradeable except at a loss), Viktor Arvidsson (lower value because he's a rental) or Iafallo so that we have the cap space to find a starting goalie (unless we keep Petersen on the main roster) and find ourselves a #2 LhD to partner Matt Roy.

What does this do for the Canes? Olf would play sheltered mins in a 4th line role with some PP time. The Canes do not spend cap nor draft assets on a player in this role.

Only one is Anaheim, they don't really need LD, they are loaded with good D prospects. Think Johnson goes to San Jose

Why, he would be tied for 2nd in goals on your team and like 5 or 6th in points. He has the best wrist shot I have ever seen.

I will not have a retort for your stats, because I don’t doubt anything you’ve said. You asked Why, however…and I already answered it in my original comment.

His defensive liability at 5v5 makes him a no-go for Carolina. That’s why he’d be buried as a sheltered mins PP specialist.

I didn’t say he wouldn’t be good for the Canes…just said they wouldn’t spend their cap space and draft capital on it. Give us a Vegas Patches special price on him and let’s talk.

Good point. Carolina was a dart throw just was looking at some teams that could maybe use a scorer type. They're loaded up top

You do know that the last 2yrs that he has Scoerd 48 goals and only 14 have come on the PP. 21 of his goals this year were 5vs5. Yes his defense isn't great, but Carolina has the Centers that can help with that while he scores 30 goals a year with the talent there.

Thanks your comments are helpful. Yeah I figured cap reasons and selfishly because Iafallo is from Buffalo lol

You aren’t hearing what I’m saying. I didn’t say Olf has been a PP specialist with Buffalo. I’m saying he would have to be on the Canes. Respectfully to Buffalo who is making strides as a team, but their 5v5 game is not the same as the Canes.

I get what you are saying, and No Buffalo's 5vs5 game isn't like Carolina's, that's actually why Olofsson might fit there because you have the players that could help with his Defensive Deficiencies. You guys have a fantastic team, doesn't take away you could use some scoring and Olofsson would definitely help that with the talent in Carolina and at 2.3mill could be a bargain. I do get it, and Olofsson has to be in the right situation. That's why I think Olofsson Eichel Rhino were good together that 1yr. He had players that were sound 200ft player with him and Olofsson had a very good 54 games.

@Caniac555 you certainly know your team better than I.
Buffalo should not trade Olofsson for anything less than a second as I know Olofsson better than you.
During his Sabre career he has scored 9.5% of all of Buffalo's goals.
This is a broken record, but ONLY 55 forwards scored more goals than he last year and ONLY 16 scored faster than his 1.6g/60.
As @BUFF36 correctly observed he is no longer a PP specialist and he will find the open areas to score no matter who is on the ice with him.
There are four reasons he is listed in so many Buffalo trades: Kulich, Savoie, Rosén and Östlund.
It is significantly easier to teach a player to play defense than to improve their wrist shot.
In two years, the Canes may be looking at picking up Olofsson as a gift, as he learns to play defense, just as Jeff Skinner was Carolina's gift to Buffalo five years ago.
Jeff has become a 200 foot forward and a pt/gm player this year.
Victor is not being traded because he is worth little as IMO even a second is a gift but instead defense will improve with Granato as his HC.
So let's agree that Carolina may not become his new home.
Well there is my cent and a half sticking my nose into other peoples convesations.

It boils down to spending draft picks on someone who won’t play in Carolina’s top six - this is absolutely not the pattern the Canes front office has followed. They value defensive play at 5v5 when they develop their targets.

My suggestion is that Buffalo either keeps him, or finds a different team.
