Description

Instead of getting Bruins pick which would be 28th. What about Leafs 1st next season? That could end up being a much better pick than 28th. As a Wings fan this idea is much more appealing to me.

Just need to sign a good 3rd goalie, because we know how injury prone Murray is.

I feel like we’ll have better ways of trading out of one of those seconds if Yzerman doesn’t feel like making 3 consecutive picks

Murray is a corpse. Not taking his contract off Toronto's books unless they pay us a 1st with nothing going back.

Leafs will most likely stash Murray on LTIR. But whoever trades for him will finish last and pick 1st overall next year, so that makes him valuable. I don't see the Leafs packaging a 1st with him. If anything, Red Wings will have to pay to get him.

What other team in the NHL would take on 2 years of 4.8 mil to move up 20 picks and give up a later pick. The going rate to absorb that contract is a 1 st rounder for each year. DRW would not do that trade.
