I am all for taking advantage of TML, but that Matthews Trade is far from reality. 1 of Kempe/Vilardi/Byfield + 1st rounder 2023 would be needed...so LA would have to go get one.
Mtl doesn't need a 16th winger on its roster...and that's a high second rounder

Not enough for CHI. Risk too high with Turcotte for his value around the league to be worth what he is to LAK, and that contract is an albatross which would cost a fair bit to move Imo.

One year of Arvidsson, especially for a rebuilding team like MTL, is not worth an early 2nd.

Yeah. Half his value to the Hawks comes from being a Chicago native. Would any other team in the league value him this highly? The answer is no. It will take significantly more to dump Petersen. Which, according to most LAK fans, they aren't willing to pay because they value Turcotte too highly for anything like this, after using a 5th overall pick to select him. Who knows if LA's front office feels the same way, though.

Yes, this is exactly why Matthews to the Kings in 2023-2024 is so unrealistic. Traded away 3 regulars, a first, two seconds and a good prospect and what do we have to show for it? Only a 21-man roster, the same awful left side on defense, and one extra #1C for at least a season.

It just doesn't work. I wish people would stop trying to shoehorn Matthews into the Kings' lineup just because they want a big return back. Once it's right there in front of your eyes for everyone to see, it's obvious how silly this idea is.

As deep as our roster and prospect pool are, we just don't have the piece (second overall pick in this year's draft) or pieces (everyone on the Arizona roster) to make a Matthews trade sensible.
