Why does Boston do that?

Makes zero sense.

And umm…check their cap

Boston doesn't have the cap space for Hellebuyck and Scheifele.

And Schmaltz and Vejmelka by themselves don't get Kyle Connor.

The Jets need to make some cash space to sign a Center. Dubois wants to go to MTL, so may as well just get er done while getting a top 6 winger, a future top 6 player and a depth D that can fight. All the Jets need.

The Jets need a starting goalie after they trade off Helly. Schmaltz is a 1st or 2nd line Center, which the Jets desperately need. Connor gets points, but no grit. The Jets need grit.

Boston needs a Vezina winning goalie that wants to win and they will also need a top Center. Yes, they will have to dump some cash / players to make it happen, but they need both of those players.

The way I see it

Florida 1st, Anderson, Kidney -> PLD

Xhekaj -> Perfetti & Stanley (I like this deal, but I am just as happy not to do it)

Why are you trading Perfetti? He’s gonna be one of the only bright spots on this team going forward. How are you building for the future when you’re trading away two of our best young forwards and prospects in Perfetti and Lucius?

Makes no sense for any team except for Montreal as we wouldn’t move Perfetti for that entire return, nevermind PLD++.

Boston has Ulmark even after moving Swayman, so they are literally the least likely team to trade for Helle.

Arizona only trades Schmaltz to cut their salary spend. KFC makes the same amount of cash so it makes no sense.

Jets get bent over in every trade so it makes no sense to them either.

Habs run away laughing and unfortunately you’re fired as GM never to be hired again as this trade goes down in history as one of the most lopsided ever.

Florida 1st, Anderson & Kidney for PLD is a bit much to hope for, but getting a top 6 / 9 D in Schmidt, a "who knows" asset in Stanley and Perfetti (who was in the rookie scoring lead before he was injured) should make this work. Perfetti could fit in amazingly with your young talented forward group. The Jets need more grit.

Perfetti is still an unknown and is small and squishy. The Jets need more grit.

Ullmark has shown that he needs to have someone to spare him off, especially in the playoffs.

KFC is American and is a top winger that AZ can build around. The Jets may also throw in a 1st round prospect, a top 6 D and a back up goalie to get Vejmelka and Schmaltz.

Seriously... you want to keep Chevy who does nothing and keeps the Jets in the middle forever. Okay... have fun with that. I'm tired of watching the Jets sit around the middle.

We really have too many LHD prospects to have one of our slots taken up by Schmidt. The salary is so high as well that it will become prohibitive. I'm not saying no to the deal if we "have to take him" to get it done, but I would rather take the exact deal without Schmidt attached, because we will be trying to trade him as soon as the deal closes.

That's exactly it. The Jets need to free up Schmidt's roster spot and some cash. MTL would be able to flip Schmidt to someone desperate for a veteran D that isn't too old.

So instead you crash them to the bottom forever?

Ulmark needs someone to switch off with… like a Swayman?

You think Schmaltz is better than kfc??? Rittich is a UFA… his rights are worth nothing. Then you add a blue chip prospect in Lucius as well??? Given the cash that schmaltz is owed the return on him will be low.

Perfetti was a top 10 pick scoring at an above 60 point pace in his rookie season…. Starting to think you may not know what you’re talking about here….

Finally yes, I would rather make the playoffs every year just like Chevy has done. Giving away big pieces of the future in Perfetti and Lucius to get worse and adding a dman that can fight when we have a better one in Bauer makes no sense.

You’re entitled to your vision but I think this is a poorly thought out AGM.

They have Ullmark who is going to win the Vezina this year. MS55 is a locker room problem and for a team like Boston that values leadership/culture, MS55 simply doesn't fit the bill.

Schmaltz isn't a center. He took 100 draws this year. Over the last 3 years he's taken 876 face-offs. This ranks 152nd in the NHL and only 5 draws more than Miko Rantanen....whose a winger.

Swayman / Ullmark wasn't enough. Ullmark had a great year, but he plays in Boston's system. Almost any goalie would do well in their system, but they need someone who can be the go to and Ullmark becomes the 1B.

Schmaltz is better for the Jets. Schmaltz is grittier. That's what the Jets need. Don't forget Vejmelka in that deal. The Jets will need a starting goalie once Helly is traded. Lucius has been hurt a lot. Leg injury in college and then again this year. He's "probably" going to play in the NHL, but at what level, we don't know. Schmaltz is a WPG style player... what they need.

Perfetti was doing very well. His hockey IQ, vision and passing are OFF THE CHARTS... but he's not fast and is VERY soft. He doesn't watch his back and stays on the boards too long. He may figure it out or he may not. No one knows.

My trades are about guaranteeing a tougher Jets team that will play grittier. It's a team that can compete and will grow together.

Look again at the lines. I have Lysell in place of Perfetti. Brought up Lambert , Kidney and Limoges.
