No Landeskog - Get Scheifele

Description

I can't tell if I overpaid or underpaid for Scheifele/Hinola...but here it is. If I need to tweak (and rather than "Jets Decline", tell me what you think the trade needs to be), I would because I really think that he is about the best real 2C option the team can realistically get. Additionally, the Avs would have about $14M in cap space the following year...and if god forbid Landy does not come back, Scheifele could be that longer term replacement.

I like a flyer on Drouin, especially with Scheifele as a goal scoring C.

Everyone else, I want to spread out the cap hit and am looking for vets, PK'ers, some size and grit. I would love a few guys like Eller, Hathaway, etc, who can balance playing and toughness.

I am NOT trading my 5 d-men, adding Hinola and am resigning the Johnsons...and contently rotating the 8 d-men.

You must not know Mack lol. He will put constant pressure on Schefifle. I wouldn't trade Newhook in a deal for M.S, beause the only chance Avs have at resigning him is if Landy is done done. I don't forsee that being the case and wouldnt make trades this summer with that assumption. Need to keep our 2 center prospects/young pros.
I would feel sorry for Nuch or who ever has to be a winger on a line with Drouin and Schefifle, two that have never been known to play defensively reliable.

Being that COL is in the same division I do think they'll have to pay a bit more...especially getting Scheifele almost half retained. However, with that being said, I think this is a great deal for both sides. In a deal for Scheifele I think that Newhook and your 1st rounder are the base targets plus a decent prospect which Olausson fits the bill there. Personally, I would take out Heinola/Merkley and just do a deal around Scheifele.

Newhook + 1st is plenty. Also, the Avs have Malinski and Behrens as top D prospects; not sure Heinola is needed.

I think Byram, Toews, Hathaway, and Drouin are being over paid. So, If the Jets like Olausson, they could send back Nino.

Jet accept really kinda of scheifele for newhook and a 1st and heinola (becomes best prospect and most nhl ready for olausson and Merkley as a guy that replaces gawanke with the moose or nhl team if there is a spot if we rebuild

I would love to see Scheifele play 2C behind a clear cut elite 1C like MacK. I think Scheif has another level to reach if he actually gave a sh*t and I think watching and playing with MacK day in and day out could unlock that.
