I would rather have Zucker and Poulin than Engvall and Fast.

Saros trade seems a little light but there isn't a good comp so you could be right.

Poulin looked at least ready for bottom six role, but he also just took half a year off. Not sure he is penciled in right now. I go back and fourth on Fast. Good player but idk if he is a guy I wanna pay/ commit too

After taking off all that time it's impossible to gauge where his game's at. Unless the Pens are desperate for cheap fourth line options he'll likely start in Wilkes until he proves something. Anything..

ya that's where I'm at..
could fight for a spot in camp, but they can't plan on him as a top 12 guy

What would they consider in your opinion?

I can't think of a good comp. Bishop and Kuemper were rentals and not quite as good.

well it starts with a first. Second add is nice. They could likely get more but its not too far. Maybe add another prospect or young player. Also depends who is around at that pick

Right. I think 14 overall + a 2nd next year + a B prospect gets it done.

Some want multiple 1sts but no goalie had ever been traded for that much.

The closest that ever came would be Matt Murray after his 1st full year (with 2 cup wins). He might have gotten a few 1sts but he was 23 and electric at the time.

Ya and he went on to be a cap dump they somehow fooled ottawa into paying a 2nd for. Goalies are too unpredictable to pay that much for

It's a low offer that would get beaten, if Saros were on the block. NSH has been pretty adamant since they started moving out pieces that Saros is untouchable though. If PIT sets their sights a little lower, 1st and a 2nd might be enough for Hellebuyck though.

PIT doesn't have any prospects or young players of note that would make a difference, in a trade for a star player.

A medium 1st and 2nd would be an overpay for Hellebuyck. He would need 2024's 1st (and top 15 protected).

What do you think Saros is worth?

Pittsburgh move for me would be like Varlamov as backup for 2-2.5 and then go and sign Hill, Korpisalo or trade for Vejmelka. Go cheaper and have options, use assets elsewhere

Two 1sts, if he were on the market. More than that to convince NSH to trade him, when they don't want to.

Broz or Pickering probably the only two with legit value. Maybe Bloomqvist

Well they may not want to trade him but here are four reasons why they will.
1.) They aren't good. They needed a heroic effort from Saros to be close to playoff teams
2.) Their prospect pool is middle of the pack. They have a few big names but could use more.
3.) Askarov looks like he could be very good and would be a foundation for a rebuild.
4.) Saros' value has never been higher.

Two 1sts would only work if they are low 1sts. A goalie has never been traded for more than a single A prospect or 1st round pick. If Nashville is looking for 2 1sts + they will not find a partner.

I think that’s what he’s saying. There’s no reason to trade Saros right now. He’s young enough and cheap. NSH most likely would’ve been a playoff team had it not been for the injuries this year. Saros is the main reason for that. You can make an argument that Nashville would be better off in the future trading him now. I’m not going to argue one way or the other for that. But I highly doubt Nashville is going to trade one of their best players just for the heck of it though. There’s no reason to trade him unless it’s an offer that can’t be refused. He could easily have 6 or 7 more solid years ahead of him.

I’m not saying he won’t be traded, but I would be surprised if Trotz is prioritizing finding a trade partner for Saros. It would have to be a big offer.

1) No they're not. They're in much better shape and closer to contention than PIT is though. I like NSH's chances of returning to the playoffs next season more than PIT's.
2) It's a top ten pool, and they've got 13 picks this summer. They're not so desperate for prospects that they need to do a deal like this.
3) Askarov didn't get enough reps in KHL. He needs at least another year (maybe two) as an AHL starter, before he's ready for NHL starts. As talented as he is, he's still quite raw. Rushing his development would be detrimental.
4) Yes, but it'll still be very high next season, if Askarov is ready by then. In the meantime, NSH still needs a starting goalie. They've shown no indication they want to pull a PIT or a CHI and intentionally tank a few seasons.

This is a winner right here.

Probably not enough to get Saros though
