Not every contract where a player has a down year is brutal, folks. Even in his worst season, Dom still had him worth like 3.5M for the season, and he loves to trash thw Blues. Krug will likely bounce back to some extent. Someone with a bad power play could go for him, and luckily that describes most of the teams he'd waive for. Someone gave a 1st+ for two months of Chiarot. I'm mildly confident Krug can be moved without selling the farm. Nobody said it would be easy, but it's not a pure cap dump.
Krug didn't have a bad year. He had a bad season after a bad season after an ok to bad season. He isn't good at playing defense.

So it seems to me he is good at controlling play and is a positive to scoring but is a total liability in the defensive zone. That could be valuable but not at 32 years old with 4 years left on 6.5MM a year.
