Description
Although CGY didn't make the playoffs this year, I think they have a lot of pieces to be a successful team. In this post I made some moves that I think would improve the team from this past season. Pairing Nylander with Huberdeau is to try and rekindle the success Hubey had with a speedy winger in Duclair in his 115 point season. Signing Foligno, and keeping Luc in the mix for one year brings the veteran leadership, and grittiness that helps establish a culture. Lines as constructed I believe is that of a team that could contend for a Division championship.. lmk what you think.

That leafs trade is real bad. 8 years of Weegar is worth much more than 1 of Nylander and Mangiapane is worth more than Liljegren

Yeah because paying guy through his 30's is a great way to spend money. Nope

Treliving messed up trying to pair Hubie with DS. Lindholm is easier to manage, being in a contract year. Honestly, not much needs to change. This situation highlights the human aspect of the game.

"Priced out to sign Freddie and Raanta"

Carolina have 30 million in cap space and no big free agents this summer. They do not need an AHL goalie. Vladar isn't even .900 sv% in his career

Leafs certainly don't want Weager and his eight year deal taking him to age 38. Leafs keep Nylander either for full season or as trade.

Just a note.....I certainly hope Leafs don't sign Trevling as GM. His Huberdeau and Weager signings should show he not capable.

Yes but they'll need every bit of that space to extend Aho, Skjei, Necas, Pesce, Jarvis, Drury for the following season. You also didn't factor in that 14.55 million in LTIR is coming off of the books either.

Really? I'm with you on Treliving but I figured leafs fans would be all over Weegar considering he'd be debatably there best d man.

Well I assume the Flames wouldnt trade all of that for 1 season of Nylander duh... Also no factoring in contracts, mangiapane at 5.8 and Liljegren at 1.4. I bet you 30/32 GM's would pick Liljegren.

He's still a rental when the trade takes place. No reason to pay more than that when we are the ones negotiating an extension

Weager's eight year contract begins when he is 29 years, 10 months. No thanks for that contract, although I wish the Flames and Weager all the best.
Leafs would better to keep Liljegren who just turned 24, is getting 1.4m this season. He played 18 minutes a night, was plus 18. He's very capable with upside.
