Toronto is trying to win now, I don't think they would have any interest in a 2025 first. You would need to add another player instead IMO.

Another bad nylander attempt. Leafs have no use for Girard and need to improve scoring. Trading Nylander is the last thing they should do.

What is that Kuznetsov trade? That is an easy decline from the caps. Literally zero value for a top 6 center.

Edit: Just so people don't think I'm crazy, since the trade seems to have disappeared, the trade was 2 players drafted in the later rounds in the mid 2010s who have never played an NHL game for Kuznetsov at 2.5M retained.

If and I know it's a big if, if the Leafs are sellers this season....yep Nylander is on the table....as is Matthews. If the Leafs believe that Girard is worthy of his contract for three years, could very well be a deal.

Put my on record as saying the Leafs SHOULD be sellers.....if not this summer by TDL....when their expensive contracts are less prohibitive to the teams buying.

Terrible for Washington, they're not giving Kuzy away even with his issues.

Not terrible for Nylander but doesn't really make much sense for Toronto, suppose they could trade those assets for something else though but GM's typically don't operate like that.

I agree playoff teams aren't sellers. For the Leafs I'd make an exception. I just hope the next GM can spend the cap wisely when Matthews, Nylander and Brodie are no longer Leafs in 24/25.

Matthews and nylander most likely stay. Brodie will be gone. If I'm moving anyone it's marner. But leafs have spread the money around fairly well. I don't think it's absolutely necessary.
