Why are leafs adding?

Leafs don't need a goaltender and the package isn't nearly enough with Matthews having an extension in place.

Leaf’s will dump Murray. Markstrom is upgrade, will bounce back. Lindholm elite #2 centre playing with Nylander, makes JT #1. Tanev solves steady right shot D. Leaf’s in win now, this gives depth.

Mtl likes Ruzicka, but say no. Roy made big steps this year, they declined a first(allegedly) for Andy and that 2nd holds more value than what either of Mangiapane or Ruzicka can offer in two years.

Leafs have 4 steady rhd. No need for another. Markstrom is not on our list of targets. Why in the hell would we add a 1st.

Markstrom is not better than Samsonov and Woll the Leafs two top goalies, and by last year Markstrom is a cap dump.

No Roy involved, replaced him for Mysak and it will be fairer... But Mangiapane is another smallish forward... that we don't clearly need.

Can't imagine any of the non-Flames teams do those.

1) With that kind of condition, the Matthews trade is a dramatic underpay, even if Lindholm and Tanev extended too.
2) Montreal likely prefers their established NHLer and prospect in the 2nd deal more than what Calgary's offering, before needing to add a 2nd.
3) Devil's are pretty set at D and that is a significant price to pay even if they weren't.
