Value is more than fine but i cant see buffalo wanting to trade Thompson then signing Matthews to likely double what Thompson makes for similar term

I’m not even convinced this makes the Sabres better lmao. Buffalo declines pretty easily. Thompson isn’t going to be made available.

Agree 100%, off the top of my head there's about 10 different guys outside of McDavid and Drai that could be argued as top 5 its insane

You're only looking at offense though and considering that Matthews had a down year in scoring, it's too early to say that Thompson is at the same level.
