Nobody is taking Peterson without a serious sweetener and he has no place in any Matthews deal.

    No from LA. 3 years of Kempe @ $5.5M > 1 year of Matthews @ $11.64M.

Why does everyone in here send their goalies on HORRIBLE contracts to the sharks for FC or even asking a pick in return? Why does everyone think the sharks want to pay another bag goalie top dollar for no return? Add picks or why bother!

There's no sugar coating it.... It's because big market team fans do not care about other team considerations or fairness. They are too busy living in fantastical arrogance

Combined cap hits of Byfield, Kempe and Petersen with 50% retention = $9 million

Matthews cap hit: $11.64 million; Murray buy-out: $687,500; Homberg Qualifying Offer: $787,500 = $13.39 million

Kings' cap space after signing RFAs Gabe Vilardi, Rasmus Kupari, Pontus Holmberg and Tobias Bjornfot and filling the hole at #2 LhD = zero

    Try again.

And if you think that San Jose would be happy to have Cal Petersen at 50% off for free, IMAGINE how ecstatic they would be to have him directly from us with a 2023 fourth-round draft pick!

    But that's not happening, either.

The old “those meddling teams are nothing more than a farm system for our wants and needs” mantra! I hate that, every trade I make in here I try and use past references for trades plus take into account cap and the teams desperation to move a player.
The more desperate a team is to move a player for cap reasons the more the cost to take it on goes up!
Teams like NYR TOR TBL LVK and LAK are good teams at the cap and desperate to move salary making Guys like Goodrow who normally would have value now become cap casualty and cost to move. And players like Murray, and Petersen will cost substantially more than normal due to the stagnant cap and multiple teams looking to shed cap. Just like Monahan cost a 1st.

We will take him full cap hit but it’s costing you your 1st!
50% retained would cost a 2nd but that would not be worth it considering if he is buried he costs 3.8 vs 2.5 with retention and 1.3 mil cap savings for 2 years is NOT worth a 2nd.

It explains the dozen or so ACGMs posted EVERY SINGLE DAY by mindless Toronto fans sending Matthews or Marner with their eight-figure cap hits to Los Angeles in return for Byfield and/or Clarke and/or Kempe and/or Vilardi and never reaching $10 million in cap going out, but making Los Angeles look like top-heavy Toronto and Toronto starting to look like bottom-up Los Angeles. And what they REALLY seem incapable of intellectually understanding is that in transactions whereby the Kings send four or five players to Toronto for one player, the effective cap hit for Matthews isn't $11.64 million or Marner $10.9 million -- it's those figures PLUS the cap hits for the players we have to fill the new holes in the roster with. That's why even a cap-out, cap-in trade for a big ticket doesn't work. For example, if we send four players to Toronto for Marner, we need $14 million in cap going out, not $11 million.

Washington isn’t going to do that. That’s an overpay for what Timmins has shown so far in his career.
