Wings pass, not gonna happen, mazur not going anywhere

Not to be mean but the Mazur trade is one of the dumbest trades on this site. Wings ina rebuild and surely not tr a's ding a 21 year old who has played great for Univ od Denver and has had a great showing in WC for a 31 year old way more expensive player, who had a career year but is ready to be a UFA.

That would only be mean if it wasnt a dumb response. I wont be offended but will school you on a few things. Mazur is a 3rd round pick who is still developing. Hasn't even sniffed the NHL yet. DET just traded Bertuzzi for a 1st and 4th. There is no team in the league that would offer DET a 1st and 4th for Mazur. Toff may be older but wasn't DET trying to be good last year? Who even is their top line RW? Rental Bertuzzi is less valuable than full year Toffoli given production and injury history.

Better Yes, but not stupid. Mazur is a prospect but looking like a very good prospect. And yes nobody is offering 1st and 4th for Mazur, but then again he is not coming up on UFA, like Bertuzzi or Toffoili. He is cost controlled for years and has played well in the WC over in Europe. Mazur is 21 and Tofolili is 31, that alone makes this a bad deal. Rebuilding clubs do not trade top prospects for players 10 years older and coming off career years until they are ready to contend for a cup and Wings not there yet,

Question, why even bring Bertuzzi into conversation? I did not mention them, this was a Mzur / Toffoili trade?

Detroit isn't gonna send away resources for a 31 year old at the stage. Mazur is one of the Wings better forward prospects currently and seems to consistently be improving. He's not a sure thing of course, but by time the team is actually good, Toffoli will have regressed. The trade just doesn't make any sense from the Wings perspective

Comparison of value.

Detroit declines. Mazur is out performing his draft position and is perfect for the rebuild. He may end up being nothing, or he may end up being a very solid middle 6 piece.

Toffoli doesn’t get the Wings into the playoffs. He also wouldn’t be a part of the Wings future after next season. The Wings moved Bertuzzi and got a 1st (young piece) because he wasn’t going to be around when the team is ready to compete. Same principal here, Mazur being the young piece. Rather have him spend a year in GR and take a job later this season or next season.

Good grief that's dreadful for the Avs.
