If that’s all provorov costs then the jackets just pursue him instead

It’s not what he costs lol. 31 teams would ask for him if that’s all he costs. The Flyers can’t even take Leddy they are log jammed at LHD even without Provy. It will take way more than a 2nd to move him.

What is the fascination with Keller? Is it just because he's from STL?

He's 24, locked up for 5 years at a reasonable AAV for a PPG player. Cheaper than Kyrou/Thomas but with those 2 creates a top line all in 23-24 range that can each be PPG players.

Okay, well first off, I would never want to put all three of those guys on the same line. But my main issue is we have basically all the other positions to worry about except wing. And we have some cap issues. So spending three 1sts on a 7M winger feels like super misplaced priorities x2 right now.

Definitely a fair POV. I don't disagree but we also have Vrana/Kapanen/Blais as pending UFAs after this year and Buch with only 1 year.

He’s a very good offensive and defensive player unlike Kyrou

It's gonna cost you a 2nd just to dump Leddy so you aren't getting Provorov for free.

The most important summer for cap is this summer. In the next few years it should be less of an issue with a new solid crop of young players coming through. Some of Vrana/Kap/Blais won't be here in couple years, if even past the next TDL, and if they are it won't be super expensive. In a couple seasons, we'll have Snuggs, Bolduc, Neighbours and Dean for around 3.5M against the cap. The cap will be up to 92 or whatever, Kyrou and Thomas will be bargains, a couple other contracts will be far more movable if necessary. This summer is the big squeeze summer if Army wants to get back to competing. It was always going to be the squeeze summer, and swapping out ROR/Vlad and the others in exchange for Kap and Vrana made that situation a little easier. We just need to Jedi mind trick the cap this summer. After that, much smoother - provided Army doesn't give Leddy a new 8-year extension with NMC.

Never said Kyrou isn’t a good offensive player. He’s a great offensive player. He’s a terrible defensive player. Keller is a great offensive player and a good defensive player…

Hmm... Kyrou easily tops Keller in takeaways/60 and is way ahead of him in carries from D zone to O zone. Not sure where you got the idea Keller is a plus player defensively and Kyrou actually showed good progress in this area over the back part of the season.

Kyrou was a -38 on a team that had a -38 goal differential while putting up 73 points.

Keller was -2 on a team that had a -71 goal differential while putting up 86 points.

O'Reilly +/- was worse than Kyrou's when he was traded. Is he a terrible defensive player? Almost half his minuses came on ENGs and 11 of them were in the first 10 games with ROR. From game 11 on, he was -5 at 5v5. Still not good enough, but certainly a sign of progress.

As for Keller, no one is going to confuse him with a Selke candidate any time soon.
