Description
Hear me out...
first move, Trade for Logan Cooley...
We all know that AZ is in a weird space right now. Rumor has it that Clayton Keller wants out, and he shares an agent with Cooley. So, the Wild trade former 1st round pick Marco Rossi, 2nd round pick Calan Addison, and Alex Goligoski to AZ for Cooley and a 2nd rd pick. AZ gets two young players who are ALREADY SIGNED and veteran D-man who helps them get to the cap floor and has played in AZ before...while giving up a stud prospect that they are not 100% sure they can sign. Win/Win

The second move...maybe a little more risque, moving RFA Gustavsson.
Gus' value might never be higher and he's an RFA to a cap strapped Wild. On top of all that, he probably isn't the future, with Wally maybe only a year away. Get the value out of Gus while we can...while trying to help up the middle. Montreal is in a tough spot with goaltending right now...Carey Price is??, what, retiring or LTIR? They have prospects and position to move. So Gus and a 2024 2nd rd pick to Montreal for the 5th overall, Lane Hutson, and Oliver Kapanen. Hutson is going back to BU for one more year, and Kapanen can go to Iowa for the season.

The 3rd move...While I'd be ok staying at 5 (Montreal's pick) and taking Will Smith...I think you have to aim high. Trade 5 and 21 to Anaheim for #2...take Adam Fantilli. (Cooley and Fantilli up the middle for the next 13 years would be great.)

4th move...Trade for Niederreiter. Would be a perfect 3rd line guy, has one year left on his deal. Gotten more snarl in his game as he has gotten older. Ryan Hartman has one year left on his deal...his value is pretty high right now, especially when you take into account his contract. However, with the additions of Cooley and Fantilli, Hartman doesn't really have a home anymore. Hartman and '25 3rd pick for Nino.

RFA's...
I think it's a given that we sign Mason Shaw, probably spends all year on LTIR, but the guy is a grinder. Great 3rd or 4th line guy...PK guy, only 24.
Sign Hunter Jones...the guy is a former 2nd rd pick. Give him a shot at the net with MAF splitting time and teaching.

UFA's
-Internal...
Ryan Reeves, I think it's obvious, if he'll take 2yrs at $1m a year.
Zane McIntyre, start he season in Iowa could backup MAF if Jones struggles.
-External...
Scott Mayfield, solid 3rd pair D-man 3-$7.5m

It's hilarious that you think the Ducks would move the Fantilli pick for that.

Only tea. wed trade the Fantilli pick to is Columbus for 3OA and the Kings 1st because we decided we liked Carlsson more, we're not dropping all the way back to Will Smith at 5.

Some really bizarre deals here. I'm guessing this is supposed to be for MIN? I guess? Not really sure. You leave MIN in a horrible situation with goaltending.

I'm going to assume you are trying to get some future superstars and let them suffer horribly for a year and then draft high in 2024 and then get a goalie and turn it around? That fits with your title / description. Right?

That's all I can think of.

The MIN / MTL deal is so off there aren't even words for it. Neither team goes for it. MIN trades their young, potentially star / starting goalie for years to come for 2 assets that MTL would pretty much NEVER give up.... Lane and their 5th overall pick. OH, can't wait for both sides to go off on ya for this one.

ANA is not giving up Fantilli.

WPG does NOT want Hartman. Nino quickly became a leader and role model on the Jets, so they would want better than what they paid for him in return and again... DO NOT want Hartman.

Rossi's a joke and the rest of that doesn't get you Logan Cooley.

Montreal passes, Your lame offer doesn't get you Hutson and a the 5th overall pick.

Even more laugh is that you think the 5th overall and 21st overall gets you a top 2 pick. Talking about living in a fantasy world.

FYI Logan Cooley is playing another season at the University of Minnesota. And none of your garbage is getting any of those players.

Welcome to CapFriendly. Sometimes, it's not too friendly.

Not a great first effort. The first three trades are HUGELY off. Take away the Washington second, add your own 2023 first and Arizona still says No. Take away Hutson and Kapanen and add your own 2023 first and Montreal still says No. Add Logan Cooley to the third trade and Anaheim might say Yes, but who cares because you won't get Logan Cooley either with your offer as I amended it or any other combination which Minnesota might come up with unless it includes Boldy or Kaprizov, which it wouldn't.

Don't be discouraged. We all struggled at first. Keep trying!

That’s the dumbest comment in this forum…and that’s saying something.

You think its stupid the Habs wouldnt trade 5th overall and Lane Hutson for Kaprisov and Gustavsson.

Lets break it down

The player selected 5th overall will be slightly worse than Kaprizov like Smith or Benson but if Michkov is available, its not even a debate. Michkov will be better than Kaprizov

Hutson is an A+ defensive prospect. Dominating everywhere he plays. Will be a bonified #1 D man

Gustavsson has had 1 good season in front of one of the better d cores in the league. Kinda like how Cam Talbot was so good on the Rangers. His numbers arent sustainable in any way.

So explain to me how the Habs would even acknowledge that trade with the info given below

. (I think you mean above, but that not here or there)

I'm saying, you comment that the "Havs would accept the trade with Kaprizov in it" ...is DUMB. They would sprint to the fax machine.

Kaprizov is a top 15 player in the league...the Wild won't trade Kap for the 5th straight up. The 5th pick is a great pick, and I hope he works out for you, but it's not a guarantee...don't start measuring that banner of the rafters just yet!

#5 pick the last 10 years...Elias Lindholm, Michael Del Colle (who?), Noah Hanifin, Olli Juolevi, Elias Pettersson, Barrett Hayton, Alex Turcotte, Jake Sanderson, Kent Johnson, Shane Wright

You wan't to argue that Mont wouldn't trade 5 and Hutson for Gus...ok, that might have been wishful thinking (but look around, seems to be a theme on here). But Kirill is better than anything they are going to draft, today.
