Well duh.. Toronto "Mrazek"s Murray to San Jose but instead of getting 2nd round pick back, we get Ferraro.. same value. Reminder that Leafs did the same thing year before. Moving down 13 spots from 1st round to 2nd round to unload two years and 8.8 million of salary on Mrazek. Same thing here, but instead of moving down in draft, let Sharks have the picks and give us a mid pair D who are all worth a 2nd round pick anyways.

Nah its not gonna be that. It can be Murray and 1st for a late draft pick for all I care, or Leafs can just buy him out.. this is about the opportunity for both teams to add assets. You dont want to fight for Macklin Celebrini while getting ANOTHER 1st round pick in this years draft? That doesnt seem too wise..

Then Leafs add a prospect.. or a pick this is all small bs that can be dealt with in like later details. The idea of it is Leafs using a 1st round pick to send Murray out, cap dumping him and Leafs getting an asset in that deal instead of a draft pick. Could Leafs add another pick to further set the price to the exact point? Yeah.. but I never got to that. This is all small semantics..

My issue is eating 5 mil in cap for a guy who won’t help them much if any just to move up 8 spots when most in hockey agree that picks 20-40 are pretty close in range. If it was a later pick like 45+ then I would have less issue with it.

SJ fans are just sick of seeing bad Murray trades to SJ.
This one you propose could be tweaked to make sure SJ is being compensated for Ferraro and you seem reasonable.
Mrazek was cheaper (even with OTT retention) and better than Murray considering Murray is out a lot injured. So the cost to move Murray would be higher and at that point I think Leafs are better off buying him out.
SJ wanting to move up in the draft is situational and it's a safer bet to assume SJ just wants futures without giving any futures up
