If Michkov fell to ANA they would be dumb not to make this move.

You mean, if Michkov is available at #6, the Ducks should make this trade, after standing up on the podium for all the photo ops with Adam Fantilli and his Anaheim jersey?

Or, that Anaheim should look into the future, predict that Michkov will be there at #6, and make this trade before the second pick?

I respectfully suggest that you think this one over.

There's a chance that Bettman announces a forced draft order for the top 5, in which Michkov is not in.
There's also a chance that I'll be hit by a meteor, but there's always a chance!

So Anaheim gets the 2nd AND gets Bedard?? Why would they trade down then?

It’s not an exact science, but a general manager should be able to determine if the teams ahead of them will draft Michkov or not. Sure that’s easy for me to say, and I can understand how my comment may have been confusing but it would be a calculated risk. I’m fairly certain teams have conversations about moving up/down in the draft all of the time, and while not many actually go through teams are probably confident in what direction they think other teams will go in the top 5/10 picks.

There is definitely a risk of them making the wrong call but I have seen mocks with Michkov slipping as far as 8 to Washington. I will amend my statement to say that if they genuinely believed they could get Michkov at Arizona’s pick and they didn’t do it they would be foolish.
