"Treliving has been brought in to break up the core-4"

This is pure speculation.

I won't comment on the Nylander trade. But moving up 11 spots in the draft costs a lot more than a 4th rounder
Insanely high $$$ and term on that ROR contract.
Mark Jankowski on the team? No thanks.

I think a more realistic trade with MTL would be the 28th overall for the 37th, 69th, 144th.

Also, I think Lilly requests a trade after this NSH deal. He has earned the chance to compete for that top 4 RD slot, just to bring in a similar player, at a similar point in their development to over take him on the depth chart with 0 games in the org.

And I think Nick Ritchie's done in Toronto.

Well, he's close. According to the draft pick value chart I have from June 2022, it costs FOUR such fourth rounders (assuming that they're all in the top quarter of the round).

Worst mistakes Leafs made was to bring in Treliving. He lost Gaudreau for nothing and could have traded him but waited to long believing he could sign him. Then he made the biggest blunder in history Trading Ktachuk for Huberdeau.

You will lose Mathews the same way Flames lost Gaudreau.

Good lick!!!

Not saying your wrong in the Leafs signing Trevlliving, but I think your arguments are kinda weak. Sure they could have traded Gaudreau, but why? Teams that are playoff contenders generally don't trade their UFAs, they keep them so their team has a better shot of advancing in the playoffs. Take the Flames for example, they signed UFAs Tanev, Markstrom, Coleman, Kadri as UFAs.....other teams had them but didn't trade them as UFAs.
Yes the Leafs might lose Matthews the same way...but in the meantime they will go on another Cup run in 24/25. And even if they don't trade him or resign well that's another 12m, I hope they spend wisely.

Actually I thought it was a terrific trade for Calgary (and Florida). Flames got Huberdeau, Weager and first rounder for one year of Tkachuk. Flames mistake was extending Huberdeau and Weager to those long term deal that takes them into their late thirties years of age.

Again the work of Trevliving. I hope for your sake he learnt his lessons and doesn't repeat it with the Leafs

I'm alway surprised how much of a carousel of the same coaches and GMs occur in the NHL. Seems to me they know how to "ace" interviews" to get the job.

Nylander is expiring. Even with an extension, we've invested way too much into Tomasino, it would be stupid to trade him. He'll be a genuine shot in our top 6 this year.

Nylander is also really skilled, but soft as hot butter. I'd rather just keep Tomasino.
Nashville is amidst a retool. Younger players > expiring UFA's

None of those players coming from Nashville are good enough to get the conversation started.

Nylander did not play soft this year. You need to watch more hockey. He was a beast on the puck and would instantly be Nashville’s top forward. Soft, that’s Ryan Johansen.

You have a weird fetish with Ryjo as if I don’t know he’s not that good lol.

Nylander is soft. Dangerously good with the puck but scared to enter the corners and will shy away from anyone bigger than him. Not to mention the amount of cherry picking he does.

He’s not a fit here, we have enough RHW’s we’ve invested development into.

Toronto fans get really upset when we tell them we aren’t interested in their expiring players. Send Nylander somewhere else, or extend him if he’s that good. We’re fine.

Nylander was very hard to knock off the puck this year. Drove the net effective and battled successfully in the corners. He was not soft this year. Nylander won’t be sent anywhere, especially for spare parts.

If nylander wasnt about to require a massive extension, id do it from nashvilles perspective. We would have to convince him to stay with a rebuilding team that doesnt have a high end 1C and is in a rebuild/retool. Personally if i was a player in my prime, id never consider it when i have basically my pick of teams after 1 season
