Not enough to interest the Avs there imo.

Im surprised you would decline that. Johnston is already a 0.5P/GP player as a 20 year old and is primed to step into a 2C role this season and has 2 years left on his ELC, that solves the 2C hole for the foreseeable future and allows the Avs to use the cap savings for better depth. Avs should take that and run

More about the other pieces tbh. Voit is likely another diminutive forward who doesn't reproduce the junior form in the NHL, and Holmberg is pretty similar. The overall quality of the offer doesn't equate to the Hronek deal in my opinion, which I feel should really be the benchmark as a minimum.

I mean good lord. Absolutely brutal

Secondly, why wouldn’t the Blues just trade for Heiskanen if that was the cost?

Voit and Holmberg are pretty even with Meyers imo, but even if you don't like them Johnston for Girard is a huge win for the Avs which more than makes up for it. If you're using the Hronek deal as a guide I don't see why you would turn down Johnston - he's worth more than a mid 1st and a mid 2nd imo and plays the exact position the Avs need with a <1M cap hit. Idk what's not to like about this tbh

If that trade could be Johnston & Timmins (or picks), I think the Avs don't look back. They don't need Holmberg or Voit.

Excuse me but Avs should accept this deal in a minute. And sign Soucy or Gavrikov for 3-4 years

Neither of them will replace Girard now.

I'm certainly not saying it isn't close, but I'd want something better than Voit & Holmberg. I'd argue whether Johnston has quite the value you suggest at present but you're right when you say he fills a need. As swissmontana suggested, Timmins or picks would be preferable for example in addition to Johnston. Have to remember that Voit & Holmberg are two of your contracts and I'm never keen on just 'guys for the sake of guys' to make up numbers for that reason. Quality vs quantity would be my preference. That said it would also depend on the Matthews trade going through in this scenario.
