If I Were Briere and Jonesy

Created by: sk540
Team: 2023-24 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 6, 2023
Published: Jun. 6, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The only reason I sign Barbashev here, if he accepts the deal, is because he is a guy who is built for the playoffs, and is only 27. In 2/3 years when we are hoping to contend, he will pay big dividends then. And in the meantime, he can show our current players the little things he does so well, his positioning, hockey sense, etc etc.

Same feelings I have with Severson. He would be a great top 4 guy on a contending team, is only 28, right shot, plays cool calm and collected, and won't be asked to play top pairing minutes. We're gonna suck so whoever is 1 RHD will have their hands full already.

WPG is NOT giving up their 1st pick for Provorov. PASS!

Make it a 3rd, then okay.

I've seen the same TK to Detroit proposal so many times.
This just means it's gonna happen.

All of this is super realistic to me. I don’t think Severson signs here without a big overpay but I think if you knock Barbashev up to $4M AAV I think he could sign here and I agree that it would be a big help to this team

I'm pretty much over the idea of the Avs getting Hayes, even at half retained. He just does not fit their style.

I don't understand trading Konecny unless youre returning something really special, Zadina's a good player with potential I just don't think hes worth Konecny, a guy who every team in this league would love to have.

I think more so two fans bases just found this handshake agreement where both would be okay with acquiring/giving away TK for that cost lol

I think the Detroit and Dallas trades make sense. Don't see the Winnipeg trade making sense for them even if they were previously interested in Provorov, and I think Colorado is going to set their sights higher than Hayes (my opinion is they're the perfect fit for Scheifele)

17OA, 45OA, and a reclamation project in Zadina is absolutely a good deal for TK

Behrens is not getting moved for a Hayes poor fit/caliber/age/cap kind of player.

Provorov at $6.7M for 2 years is far too much. I was being kind giving a 3rd and 4th, plus a $1M bottom pairing D to help bolster your teams meanness. Your initial proposal is brutal for WPG.

Barbashev's number was probably at $4M before the playoffs started. Now? If LVK doesn't work hard to retain him, I could see him getting up to $4.5M. I want him for COL, but I'm getting worried he'll be too expensive.

Serious question. Who is the cap dump? I don't see anyone in this trade that is that.

Stanley considering we would need to sign him when we already have 4-5 LHD even without Provy that we would rather play

Oh okay, so not a Cap dump. Just a crowded position there. FYI. A cap dump is a guy who is past his prime and signed to a long term outrageous contract. Not a 25 year old 6'6" former first round pick on a RFA contract. I would imagine most teams would want a guy like that for the right price.

Sure yeah whatever terminology you want to use. I say cap dump to flyers cause they don’t need him but unnecessary piece is a better term I guess lmao. Regardless he doesn’t have enough value to justify him and a 3rd and 4th for Provy

i think it's about the draft capital, combined with another higher pick who may still have the potential to be a game breaker but needs a change. TK technically fits our window, however, he had a career year and plays a position that we currently have a glut of. Maximizing his value and allowing us to add some draft capital that can be used under the current regime's strategies, in combo with Zadina, would be worth it for the Flyers. I think even more so if those picks are for this year to start this offseason and rebuild with a bang, building a strong foundation right off the bat.

100%, it makes sense to trying capitalize on his value now, coming off this season his value is probably as high as it will get. Maybe im underating Zadina's as a player and his potential, I just think they should be looking for a higher end prospect and first rounder for him.

If brutal were in the middle, your proposal of a 3rd and 4th with Stanley, is closer than a 1st and 4th with Stanley.

Look at the stats......

Well this is all moot now, it appears Provy is on his way to CLB in a three team deal with LAK.. Wow!
