hart deal

Created by: kevg028
Team: 2023-24 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 7, 2023
Published: Jun. 7, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
take on murray to give toronto more cap space for more capital with toronto getting their franchise goalie, would want one of robertson/knies

trade tony d at the deadline anywhere where hell have peak value

getting a steady rhd to pair with york (like they did getting niskanen for provy) should be a high priority

trade hayes while eating $ to maximize return (avs seem logical due to landeskog missing season and his $ on ltir)

look to package picks to trade up for fantilli/carlsson though unlikely. best case scenario is michkov falls due to russian questions, would be worth the risk with this being a long term rebuild

Flyers aren't going to trade Hart unless it's a major haul. Taking on Murray to make the cap work is fine, but Robertson / Timmins / 28 overall isn't going to be enough to move the needle.

see that Toronto deal is a deal where Hart will actually pull a first because they are taking a bad contract in return.

The value is definitely there for Colorado. I would absolutely consider it, I just don’t know if I’m the biggest fan of Hayes play style fitting in with Avs system. Avs say, “Let me think about it” lol. GM Briere off to a good start from yesterday I’d say!

And I have to be honest, I'm not sure this is a deal that Toronto needs to do. Samsonov gave them good performance last year and wasn't a major issue at any point in time. He's cheaper than Hart and they already have him on the roster, so the acquisition cost is none. I can't see the Leafs wanting to move multiple pieces they need to get a marginal upgrade in goal. If Hart is moving I'd be surprised if it was Toronto.

This type of trade has been proposed dozens of times here for months now. I've liked it less and less as time has gone on but maybe he just needs a change of scenery and perhaps the Avs could make it work. I would much prefer the Avs make this year's 1st pick and send next years; a third party might have to get involved to help with retention but three years of retention is a lot for any team to take on since they only get three slots.

'24 1st and it's a deal. Otherwise the Avs look elsewhere.
