Take out Stanley and add Philly's 2nd at least, Addison doesn't do much imo, these smallish puck mover dmen are really a dime a dozen these days.

Also I doubt Dubois is signing that, gotta think he's looking for a much bigger AAV and 5-8 years of term.

The reporting from The Athletic is that Dubois is looking for max term starting with an asking price of $9 million AAV. While he might not get that, I think 4yr at $6.5 million is a long way off.

Even if he will only be 28 years old when the contract ends? By then, the salary cap could be approaching $100M.

He is probably looking for stability in a city, at least that is what I took away from one of his interviews a couple of months ago. Given his style of play, there is more of a chance of injury than with other forwards. That is just my read of it.

If what The Athletic is reporting is true (it generally is), then I have a hard time believing he'd sign this. If you're looking to get him around $6M your best bet is for him to sign his qualifying offer at $6M, but that walks him right into UFA next offseason where he'd most likely sign in Montreal.

Fair enough. Good luck to him getting $9M from a destination of his choice.

I guess he believes he is better than Roope Hintz and Mat Barzal. Good luck to him.

If he can give some assurance he won't hold out for a trade to Montreal in a couple years I'd be fine paying him in the $8-8.5M AAV range assuming we can make the cap work. That probably means trading Zuccarello, which would piss off Kaprizov, but maybe getting him a bona fide 1C helps soften the blow? I imagine Zucc would be open to coming back next offseason too. I dunno, 24 year old 1C's don't go on the market every day and I'm not convinced Rossi will stick at center in the NHL so if we have to overpay a bit (again assuming we can make the cap work) I don't think it's the end of the world.

Pierre-Luc Dubois is seeking 7-8 years @ $9,000,000 per. He doesn't sign that. Nor does that offer get him out of Winnipeg.

You will never have the assurance he won’t request a trade against. Not a single team is protected against this (even Montreal). If the fans are criticizing him or he doesn’t get first line minutes he will asked a trade. He isn’t worth giving him 9 millions and Addison + Gustavsson

I agree he won’t take that contract, but that offer is certainly the best they will get. Gustavsson is easily worth a first + and Addison is a young top 4. Chevy said he wants nhl players in return, this is exactly what he wants, especially if he trades Hellebuyck

They'll get a better offer elsewhere, A goalie and a top 4 RHD alone isn't enough. They move PLD or Scheifele Chevy will wants at least a C in return and Minny can't help them there.

I know that want a C, no way a team give more than that to Winnipeg. Maybe something with less value and a C coming back, but they won’t get the equivalent of this anywhere else
