Killorn is probably going to get 4 years, but awesome if he takes 2.

If we could sign Blackwood at that rate, get him through waivers, and start him as #3, that would be great. But without a clear job on big club, I doubt he takes that discount. He said in his exit interviews that he just wants a chance to play. So we’d probably either have to demote Schmid and put Blackwood on roster (if we are signing him at discount), or let him walk (or trade him).

We paid a 4th for Lazar, why the hell we downgrading to a 7th not even half a year later?

Sunk cost fallacy (and messing a little with Lightning fans)

I'd be fine with Daws as number 3 tbh. He'd be fine to fill in for 5 games or so if there is a need for it.

I am guessing we sign a Stolarz type to be 3/4 if Blackwood leaves.

I like Yegor for the Avs, and the cost to aquire is probably right. But I don't see him as a fit at center. Hard to see the Avs bringing in a guy to play center that was sub 35% in the face-off circle last year. I know the Avs don't prioritize face-off ability from their centers, but they need to be better than that.

You think? Seems to me that Daws + Brennan for Utica is the likeliest outcome.

I think faceoff percentages are among the weakest predictor of both individual and team success. I don't put any stock in it whatsoever.
The subsequent moments following puckdrop are far more important and easier to strategize plans for.

Anyway, it doesn't have to be Yegor whacking at the ref's hand at the start of any given sequence, it could be anybody for all I care.
But Yegor does work at C because he's pretty good at transitioning the puck up the ice through the middle lane, decent at entering the O-zone with control and pretty good at taking space away from attackers in the slot.
The only question mark is if he can do all that at 2C level throughout an entire season, but with a team like the Avalanche he'd have every opportunity to succeed in such a role.

I agree. I don't really worry about FO%, and it doesn't seem like the Avs do either as they have been near the bottom of the league over the past few years. But they do typically employ 1 center that can be trusted in the FO circle that gets used a lot for defensive zone FO's and other timely FO's. Last year that was JTC. There is probably another guy they could bring in that could fill that role and play 4C while jumping up lines for important faceoffs.

The Avs have wings take FO's all the time if they're any good at it. My concern is: has YS ever really played C at the pro level? I mean, the Avs do have options so acquiring good players is more important than targeting for position but if the plan would be to put YS at C, they'd have to be sure he could do it, especially defensively. Mikko was developed as a C so he could move there and probably do well but do the Avs want to break him and Mac up?
