Initial Creation Date: Jun. 12, 2023
Published: Jun. 12, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Mazur could make the roster in place of Soderblom. Leaving a spot for just one, though, if everyone is healthy, with the other, Czarnik, etc. as first call ups.

Whoever as placeholder 7th defenseman until Edvinsson is healthy and pushes one of the vets out on the left side. Could try to offload Fabbri and/or Zadina and replace with cheaper, healthier, or more effective roleplayers. Would definitely want to move Fabbri's salary before new contracts kick in for Seider and Raymond.

Jets would want something rather shiny if they are selling Connor, probably need the higher 23 pick to start.

The offer for Connor is not bad. Wallinder will most likely be an NHL'er, the 17th OA could be a steal and the 2 - 2nds could work out as well if someone decent falls to the 2nd round.

WPG should take that.

Love Connor but we can't gut the team to acquire him. Your trade offer isn't enough. Connor has 3 years left on his contract and is right in his prime. Only way he's traded is with a severe overpay. Not Windyammer level. But still a lot.

I don't want Klingberg. We're already too easy to play against. Sign UFA Mayfield. He's big. Nasty and in his prime for a D.

Without Detroit's 1st and a to prosoect you're not there. This is like a Morehitzseider proposal, too much quantity and too little quality.

Yeah, his proposals are always like "I'll give you 6 2nds over the next 10 years which is just like 3 1sts" he does lots of good fanboy stuff like that. Then he'll whine and stomp his little feet when you tell him it's not the same.

That’s the 17th pick not the 23rd. William Wallinder is a top prospect.

As for the OP, pass on all the free agent signings except for Mayfield and I’m torn on the trade. I love Connor but I really don’t want to trade Wallinder, Edvinsson or Kasper regardless of who we’re getting back.

To sell to the jets fanbase, they would need something rather shiny or the possibility of a immediate replacement, like detroits pick in the top 10, Connor was 17th in his draft year I believe, but that was after Boston dropped the ball 2/3 picks, not sure they would get so lucky this year. Lessen the quantity and add a little quality and I think you’re rather close. Jets need something to hype to the fanbase if they are on full fire sale.

A lot of fans outside of Detroit, the SHL, and apparently WPGSK, are not knowledgeable on Wallinder and just assume he's another decent defensive prospect.

It's funny; other fans underrate our top prospects because they're not in NA, and/or they look at points and nothing else.
We overrate our prospects because they're our guys.
There's a fine middle ground that neither groups are near.

I read a non-red wings affiliated scouting database the other day that had Wallinder rated nearly identically to Marco Kasper.

Generally speaking if a guy wasn’t a top 10 or 1st round pick, people don’t typically know who they are.

I wish he would've ignored me. Unfortunately I'm now living rent free in his head. It's a SCARY place in here. Don't mind the Teemu Selanne poster but what's with the Bob Essensa barbie doll? Creepy man....😧

Was that a nod to how good Wallinder is, or are they underrating Kasper?

If you ask me, Kasper is a top 15 drafted prospect at minimum; closer to 10, though.

Wallinder maybe top 25--realistically 30.

I got an offer for Essensa, I’ll send you Tim cheveldaeof and still throw in Draper for a buck, I mean I miss the 90s. Carry on lol

Maybe both are true. I’ve been racking my brain trying to remember where I saw it but, if I come across it I’ll send it over.

I’ve seen Wallinder ranked as high as 21 overall prospect and as low as like 85, but I definitely think he’s certainly in the top 30 at the moment.

I want Dally Drake back dammit! 🤣

I miss the 90s too. ☹️

Draper actually gave Mr I the dollar back when the Red Wings won the Cup in '97. 😁

IIRC Mike Smith was Jets GM who made that trade. Ol' Mikey Smith liked his Euros.

Mikey may have also traded Larry Murphy to Detroit for future considerations as Leafs GM in '97. Not sure. Leafs paid half his contract for the next season too. Where Murphy won 2 Cups playing with Lidstrom.

Maybe Mad Mike Smith was a closet Red Wings fan? 🤔

Nothing quite like the toothpick skinny players missing multiple teeth still making a living in the tough areas. Drake was a classic for that.

Loved that guy. Bowman said he was a dumb hockey player. All I know was Dally was all heart. Still one of my favs. I was was so happy when he signed as a UFA with Detroit in 07-08 and retired a Cup winner. 😁

I met Dally around 10 years ago. Great guy. He told me the story about how he signed with the Red Wings in 2007 when he was a UFA. He tells his agent "I don't care what they offer. I want to sign with Detroit. If I'm not a Red Wing, you're F'ing fired!"

Agent calls up Kenny Holland and says "Dallas Drake would like to sign with the Red Wings. What are you offering?" I think it was 1 year 1 mil. Agent says "done." 😁
