Wings prob pass with all the goalie options out there, but at least this is reasonable

I'm hesitant to give away a 6 Foot 2 Right handed defensman as a Leaf fan. He looks nearly ready to make the jump to the NHL.

At least the Detroit trade is reasonable!
Not so sure on the Washington and Philly trade.

I'd take Mary Samsonite but I'm not trading a 2nd for him.

I applaud you for being the first Leafs fan on CFACGM not trading Brodie to Detroit. Thank you!

I think you should count yourselves lucky if Brodie brings ONE second, let alone two.

This is the exact return Giordano brought. Brodie is a better Dman, younger and had terrific numbers last year. Based on Evolving Hockey's Metrics he's Top 5 defensively at his position in the entire NHL.

Yeah, Detroit wouldn't be interested IMO. He's only got one year left on his deal and Detroit isn't in win now mode.

If your last sentence is true then you should sign Brodie to a contract extension. He sure didn't play like it in the playoffs. But I suppose you'll throw some analytics at me claiming he's better than Pietrangelo.

So because Dubas overpaid for Giordano (who came with 50% retention and a kicker, by the way), Brian MacLellan should overpay, too?

I watched all 11 playoff games the Maple Leafs appeared in this spring and Brodie most definitely did NOT look like one of the five best defenders in the League; he frequently didn't look like one of the five best defenders on the ice.

You gotta find another team to send him to then, we don't have a spot for him or his contract in DC.

There's stats and analytics that show Vasy was one of the worst goalies in the NHL if we're just judging playoff performances, but you and I both know thats not true. Brodie has had very good numbers except for these playoffs. I wonder how much the rib and oblique injuries played into that. I would absolutely extend him, I just think Treliving prefers a more aggressive side to his defenders.

Samsonov trade is probably reasonable. Not sure he would be their first option, but I think him and Husso would be a decent tandem.
