I imagine Columbus would rather have Carlsson. Suzuki is good but more of a high end 2C rather than the 1C Carlsson could be

Yes but Suzuki is good now while Carlsson will need some years. Columbus look like they want to compete next season and having Suzuki as their first C would help them

That’s pretty shortsighted when you could have a guy grow with Jiricek instead and not push the team out of the basement and into mediocrity during a rebuild

I know but they seems to want to accelerate the rebuild and this is a perfect trade for that

The value is good return for MTL but can't see them moving Suzuki after just giving him the extension and the C.

That’s fair. Can’t imagine it’ll go well for them, but if accelerating their rebuild is the goal, this would certainly do so

At this value. I wouldn’t mind trading him

I get that but I don't see Hughes doing that.

They can accelerate it with cheaper moves that don't imply winning now. Hayes/Monahan/Kuznetsov could be good transitional pieces that hold the strong wing core together while the center prospects grow.

Suzuki isn’t worth anything close to carlsson. Carlssons floor is probably suzuki

Carlson’s floor is 50 point two way center. Suzuki is better than that.

The probability that he is worse than suzuki is so minimal that this trade is obsolete. Besides, 1Cs are almost always drafted and developed internally. Suzuki is a low end 1C at best.

Value wise it's good

BUT , why tf will the Habs trade their captain? We need to build around the youg guys, not trade them for future, we also need a winning culture
