And no one is taking that contract at 3 years 5m, never mind giving up an asset for it.

You guys can suck on the full contract for 3 years though.

I have no problem keeping a good 2nd line winger at a 2nd line players salary for 3 years

Leafs accept all 4. Not sure any of the other teams do though. Calgary trade would be close though. Anaheim trade is close but I don't think they pull the trigger. Montreal would really need to like the guy at 28 to pull off that trade. Vancouver trade is the furthest off I believe. I don't want Garland unless he is 3.5m or less but at that point his value would be worth more than 2 x 3rds.

Yeah we are. I think you're overvaluing Backlund, and Hanifin here. They're both very good players, but not quite at the level Nylander is. If the management can re-sign him it's a win for the Flames. The salary retention probably goes against this club's ownership, more likely a 3rd team could be used for that.

Retention is the only reason I said no. That would make our cap situation worse

I'm a Leafs fan so I will of course be biased. Just spit balling ideas and rosters here.

That's the going rate for moving up roughly 10 spots. And its assumed anyone trading up is trading for a player they like.

Taking on 400k in cap. If you're passing on a 40 goal scorer because of that idk what to say. There are other ways to shed salary around your roster.

It's a totally fine contract. Certainly not a worry if you like the player. The league has gone a bit haywire trying to get the Canucks to give up all these assets to take decent players. You could send that much salary back though maybe. Make it Timmins straight up for Garland and I'd probably do it.

Ana paid 7m to get a 4th rd pick 2 years away. They ain’t getting kings ransom for 3.5m cap for 1 year.

The habs deal they might do it but it depends on the draft

Anaheim it will cost more to dump murray
The Flames deal is really bad for Calgary, like tf

On the other hand.. i don't know for garland, vancouver either pays to dump him or retains its hard to know

either you’re the most biased flames fan i’ve ever encountered or you’ve lost your mind, that’s a steal for the flames

They also don't have the cap and why trading one of their best dman, they already have problems with overprices fowards ( Huberdeau) and their best pk guy

Just trade Nylander to a team who can gives you better assets and fits the team more than cgy

If you think that trade is bad for Calgary then you're just undervaluing Nylander. He ain't going for free and he's sure as heck more valuable than Hanifin. Both these guys will probably not be on their team post trade deadline.

Hanifin ain't re-signing there. So they are gonna lose him regardless.

The fit isn't there tbh, they have great prospects comming, they need to make room and Nylander will block that

I could have put Nylander for Backlund and flames fans would need a pick back.

you need your brain examined, nylander has one of the best contracts in the NHL, he’s a 9M+ dollar forward making 6.9. flames are already trying to move hanifin, that’s been widely reported

I didn't know for Hannifin tho, if it's true, then its more a loltoronto, i just don't see both teams doing that trade, i just think toronto should look at annother teams and trying to get more drafts and young assets

😭 if they move nylander it will be for something that makes the team better, whether that’s a lateral move or pieces they acquire to go out and acquire something better, if you think the flames wouldn’t do that you’re on crack
