Why would these teams offer sheet these players or even pay so much to acquire them. Just sign UFAs for the type of money these two players might get.

If the Canes are going to offer sheet Meier, they aren’t going to send a 7 year offer sheet where they give up 4 firsts. That’s just doing the Devils work for them. If they do send it, it will be a 1 year offer sheet, which either brings him to Carolina or walks him to UFA where the Canes would try to pursue him there.
