Get younger

Description
I think we need to have a conversation about the wild trading Kaprizov, they would in reality never do it but what would it take. in my mind i'd look at some younger pieces, who are on track to make serious impact with star potential. it would help to spread the cap through the lineup a bit more since 14 mil dead cap is a lot and ELC impact players are incredebly valueble.

i'm not saying it has to be the kings, but i do think they are one of few teams it makes sense for to do this. they have some older still important drivers of the team and if they want another cup with them and not just hope that they stay cheap with kids hopefully taking over time for some additions.

I think that Tkachuck before this season and Kaprizov would be kind of equal value, sure you get less years but still, cap, production and star power is similar. since wild have less space to take on some big deals and LA wanna add to what they got i see it like this. huberdeau would be basicly byfield+, weegar =vilardi+ some and clarke closes the gap in value.

i think 0 LA fans would agree, but remenber every living being is saying a year afterwards that panthers gigawon that trade. i think it could be similar with this one, but would also allow wild to be very good both these 14mil dead cap years.

You should change the heading to say “get younger and worse”.

LA can't afford that. Don't think they would do it either

Cap wouldn’t work at all from LA’s point of view, aside from that Byfield and Clarke are the cornerstones of the Kings rebuild.

dont actually think it would make them that much worse, but 1st year yea most likely. sets them up nicely for future though.

if they pay a 3rd team for cap retension they could. like 2.5mil ret for 3 years for a 1st. or trade a dump back

Vilardi is a player an interesting player but has a history of injuries. Clarke is a very good D prospect; solid offensively but needs a lot of work in his own end which is not uncommon for young d-men. Byfield in my opinion has been a significant disappointment when considering his draft slot. He is starting to look more like a 2/3 centre as opposed to a dominant #1 as initially projected.

To me the package isn’t good enough to net one of the best young NHL stars.

what would be good enough for you to trade him? if you get to add or trade with a different team

i do agree that the package might not be enough but there is a limited amount of teams that can trade something of value that dont just make the wild rebuild.

I don’t think there is any need or motivation for Minnesota to trade a 26 year old star who is just entering his prime and is under contract for another three seasons. Teams build around guys like Kaprizov they don’t trade them away unless their hand is forced.

That team would be paying Kaprizov 8.2M over the next 3 years to not play for him. Thats really not reasonable at all

Byfield is not a significant disappointment. Yes I want him to be producing more but covid didn’t help him.
Breaking his ankle has not helped him.
Getting sick this year in the beginning has not helped him.

Each year he has worked on certain things and has gotten better. This past season he got way better at using his body.

This next season he has got to start shooting it more and I believe the goals will start coming. If the goals start coming. He’ll hit 50+ points next year at 21.
