  2. 2023 2nd round pick (LAK)
LAK
  1. Dubois, Pierre-Luc
  2. Roslovic, Jack ($2,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Full three-way trade:

WPG receives:
- Boqvist
- Arvidsson
- Chinakhov
- 2023 3rd round pick

LAK receives:
- Pierre Luc Dubois (extended)
- Jack Roslovic (retained to 50%)

CBJ receives:
- Phillip Danault
- Brenden Dillon

LAK frees up cap space for Dubois by moving out Arvidsson and Danault, also gets Roslovic with retention. Two forwards out, two younger/cheaper forwards in, plus a potential future 1C.

CBJ consolidates their depth by turning three young players into a productive veteran two-way 2C with term + a rental veteran LHD.

WPG turns Dubois + Dillon into a very good winger (Arvidsson), a young high-upside RHD with low cap and multiple years (Boqvist), a highly talented wing prospect (Chinakhov) to help their retool.

Send Bean elsewhere, sharks have quite a logjam at LD. 4-5 of them are better than Bean.

he can play on the right side as well (his best stretch of play in 21-22 came on the right side) but point taken lol

Yeah we have about 9 NHL D signed already. Knyzhov, Vlasic can also play right side.

Definitely like the Florida trade. Cousins is an upgrade on Olivier for snarl and in fact pushes the envelope himself rather than just reacting.

Also like adding Danault. It's too bad LA and CBJ don't line up better as trade partners without a third because I'm not sure how much sense this particular three way makes.

This is certainly something different and has some thought put into it.

But I sincerely doubt that Danault waives his NMC for Columbus, and I don't think PLD for Danault is what the Kings want to do for the way they play the game. LA lives off of their defensive forwards, and Danault has been the only one that's been able to consistently hold McDavid at least on Earth when he's not paired with Draisaitl. Kopitar, through no fault of his own since age waits for no man, can't keep up with McDavid. And I don't trust PLD to be the guy that goes against 97 in a long series. Not at all.

I like Dubois as a stand-alone player, and wouldn’t be opposed to adding him if the price was right.

That said, his current contract ask makes a mess of the Kings’ cap situation. It’s hard for them to address their other needs when Dubois comes in taking up 8-9M. Would rather hold onto Danault, and wait until 2024 to sign someone like Matthews if the Kings are interested in adding a difference maker at centre, and their cap is more sorted out.

danault's NMC would definitely be the biggest hurdle. as for your other points, i don't disagree at all, but i think the appeal is more medium/long-term than short-term. being able to roll kopitar-pld-byfield down the middle would be absurd, and a pld-byfield duo after kopitar retires would be nasty to face in the playoffs.

Definitely like the creative thought put in this, 3-ways are not at all easy to pull-off.

I agree with others, I'm not sure Danault waives his NMC but something would have to give if LA wants Dubois and his cap rumors are true.

I wish LA and CBJ could be trade partners because I like too many of LA's players and especially their D system but they just don't have any clear needs that CBJ has the assets to address. Danault would be great for CBJ, but I think we would be wise to take long looks at Vilardi or Durzi in place as well.

For what it's worth, CBJ used PLD in that role against Tampa and Toronto in the covid play-ins/offs. He won the Matthews matchup and held his own despite carrying either Texier or Foudy as rookies against Tampa. Dubois struggles with motivation but seemed to really get up for those matchups and showed what he could really be. I don't know that I would trade that for the consistent lock-down that Danault brings but he can certainly match up in the way the LA likes.
